Kairus nodded to himself as Artemii continued their discussion, stroking his smooth chin thoughtfully. He then thought of another point they should consider.

"Perhaps. Between us we have magical armour and a healing spear, I suggest we may also require a weapon. Let's see who comes to us..."

Marcelus listened to the days challenge with interest, apparently they were to team up for the days challenge. Well that is a novel idea, but who should I stand with, my fellow smith hasn't been seen since the night before last, so I'll be making my decision off personal opinions alone: the sorceresses could well be dangerous, I heard that way back when he was in the empire; the... upredictability... of khainites was legendary; I don't trust the fey, she had too much of the tree hugging hippies about her. The ranger didn't seem best pleased with me the other day, but he's the one person on this spit of land I trust not to stick a knife in my back or turn me into a flowerbed. His mind made up Marcelus stepped up to the beast mage, where he stood with the ghyranist and nodded, "I realise we didn't get off to the best start a couple of days ago, but if you're willing to let me I would like to join your team, you never know it might be useful to have a bit of variety on your side. And I promise not to explode without asking permission." Winking to the ranger he turned to the fey and, with a bow, introduced hisself, "and I don't believe I have had the opportunity to leave a poor first impression on you, my name's Marcelus Lycanus and I hope you'll accept my offer of service... Or at least aid."

Kaleth had given them their next task, Kaladeth still not too pleased with the previous day’s conclusion. She had knocked a slave unconscious as well as a giving the other two deep lacerations that maimed them, causing them to scream like stuck animals. But the blasted tolling of the otherworldly bell had gotten her to snap. She hadn’t gotten much sleep and her nerves were shot to pieces. At the smallest irritation she would fly into a tantrum of curses and would grease off even the kindest attempt at conversation. She pulsed with an unknown anger, bubbling away beneath the surface. Anger might been useful when she casted her spells, but it seemed that she would have some difficulty forging alliances with the others now that her demeanour had been transformed into an angry dragon that was also hungry.

Storming across the campsite in the early morning, Kaladeth shouted at a small malingering group of guards, cursing them and spitting her morning hatred out of her system. She had to find the other mages to form a group with them, an idea that didn’t thrill her in the slightest. She preferred to work alone, most of the mages probably did from her experience. She eventually found the Beast and the Nature mage, their temporary alliance quite predictable considering the close affinity of their chosen magic. The Aqshy mage was already talking to the two mages.

A vein bulged at Kala’s temple, her anger bubbling back to the surface. The bloody bells had returned to her, the rage inducing noise breaking her from her habit of sitting back on watching what unfolded. Instead, she took the initiate. Storming up to the group of three, Kala elbowed the Aqshy mage to one side.

”Get out of the way fire crotch. I’ll be damned if I’m going to be stuck in a group with a bloody Khainite who is more likely to rip out my heart and eat it than help and a thrice accursed shadow trickster who is possibly the second most untrustworthy bugger on this island, save the previously mentioned Khainite. Now if you have already chosen the hot head over here,” Kaladeth motioned to the fire mage, ”Then I’ll be on my way. But I’ll have you know that you’ll have made an enemy this day and you better sleep with one eye open, not just in the corporeal realm either.”

Kala waited for their reply, only the sound of the blasted bells answering her for a moment and this caused an angry twitch to suddenly grow within her eyelid.

OOC: Don't take any of this personally, especially you smiler, just my character now has the attitude of a four headed, fire breathing mother-in-law from all those irking side effects. :D

So these city folk wanted to join with the forces of the wild, all well and good. Artemii had no true preference; fire made her twitchy and sorceress might be hard to work with, since they did not yet know what the challenge would be she did not know what skills they might need. Uncaring which they took Artemii looked to Kairus

"Choose," she said simply

Metarchis strode over to the Shadow Mage and pointed towards the group of four squabbling mages: "Never before have I seen such a pathetic bunch of cowards."

His lip curled in contempt as he gestured specifically at the magic casters from the schools of fire, darkness, life and beasts: "Arguing amongst themselves about who can be on the side of garden shrubberies and fuzzy household pets. Whoever heard of Dark Elf mage who dabbled in such poxy arts?"

He extended his hand outwards to the Shadow Mage: "Will you join me in partnership Sister? Khaine is a god who loves to strike from the shadows, and has always had a penchant for the more the more cunning and vicious gender of our race? Let us teach these snivelling High Elf wannabes what it is to face the true powers of the Druchii."

Turning back towards the Mages of Darkness and Fire, Metarchis began: "Whichever you comes to your senses first - and realises that an alliance with the practitioners of the High Elf magics is scarcely going to curry favour with our noble masters and mistresses - is welcome to join us in this task."

"You know,"he added, turning back to the Shadow Mage"I once dabbled with Shadow Magic - I made a rat dance, and then explode. His voice became a childish giggle (OOC: Thanks for this side effect Calisson! ) IC: "It was really funny!"

Vaelreth looked tired but at the same time fully awake and ready for the following challenges, the circles under her eyes said that she hoped for at least another hour of sleep but unfortunately she wasn't given that much.

"The challenge will be given once you have your groups are formed" She heard and sighed. Working as part of a team was essential in the classes she took in the Coven, after all sorceresses often joined their powers to cast spells together, that way more powerful effects could be achieved by combining their magic.

Vaelreth looked around the gathered mages and saw the khainite approach her. The same one that chose a defensive spell for his item. She smiled lightly and nodded at him. "With your item, and the power of Khaine at our side we should have little trouble. Now perhaps if that sorceress of the dark arts came to her senses and not sided with any of the males thinking they can be wizards without dying within a forthnight we would have a capable team."

She looked at the man's hand and simply smiled. "You're right, assassin's blade is as deadly as a well placed spell" She didn't return the gesture but her acceptance of the temporary alliance was clear"

As Marcelus waited for his answer the sorceress of the covens stormed over with a face that could crack boulders and then make them cry, he considered for a moment ham-fisting the mad cow in her place but thought better of it - he was attempting to make hisself some friends on the island and in his experience laying someone out didn't get you on thier khainemas card list. Instead he remained silent and continued to wait for his answer, now watching the ranger as the ghyranist had delegated responsibility. The beast mage appeared to be mulling it over, hopefully he would not make a rash decision

OOC - Now I'm in an awkward position, let down my group mod or one of my own group friends... ah to hell with it, coin toss!

IC -

Kairus made his statement clear, they needed a weapon. What stumped him however was when two such weapons approached and tried to get in to their team. Did he want the fiery explosive that was the Flame Mage, or the Sorceress of Darkness with her new killing ring? It seemed Artemii was leaving the decision making up to him, bluntly telling him to make the choice while the two Mages waited before him. The Shadow Seer and Blood Priest were clearly sided together, standing a few paces away across the camp. Kairus watched as they seemed to beckon the Dark Mage to them, but in that moment he made his choice.

The tolling bells he could put up with, so long as foiled the other teams plans early on. He'd never much trusted fire anyway, and although he felt a pang of regret at rejecting the Aqshy Mages' second attempt at a greeting, Kairus was not prepared to ease up his rough demeanour towards people just to help a stranger out. If the Aqshy Mage relied on him that much, then he was weak. Kairus couldn't afford to side with weakness. He took one last look to Artemii, just in case the Ghyanist had any last hint of a preference to add to the call, but was left to make the decision on his own.

"We'll take the Dark Mistress." he set bluntly, and turned away before the discussion could descend into an argument.

If the Dark Mage chose to side with the other team anyway, Kairus wouldn't mind working with the Burning Mage, but would offer no apology.

As he returned to Artemii, he whispered in her ear,

"Whoever we get, we stick together from this point on, agreed? We act as one and we vote as one, until only the three of us remain?"

Then he turned back to see who had followed and joined their team.

"So, East or West?"

Marcelus raised an eyebrow at the ranger's decision, but made no comment, he knew that bright wizards were considered unpredictable but he had assumed that unpredictability would have been preferable to predictable grumpiness. All the same he nodded a parting to the naturist mages and walk measuredly over to the considerably darker team, "it would appear that fate has forced us together. My name is Marcelus Lycanus, yours?"

Vaelreth looked at the male with a slight smirk.

"Shadow and Flame?" She chuckled lightly "I believe we can work something out together. My name is Vaelreth" She glanced towards the other group which seemed to be trying to come up with a decision about their direction. She snorted at them with disdain and approached Kaleth and the tower.

"We are ready, we shall move west" She decided someone had to take charge, and they couldn't let the other group to leave them with no choice of direction. Even if in the end they'd end up with the same destination.

The Magic Reality Show (TMRS) – Third challenge (continued)

Three Candidates were ready to head for a Quest in the West:
Representing Aqshy, a sulfur smelling, bald smith: Marcelus Lycanius
For Ulgu, a spasm prone Covens sorceress: Vaelreth Velkyn
In the name of Khaine’s cult, a childish, deaf eared, occasionally sweating priest of blood: Metarchis Avax

Three Candidates were about to go hunting Beast in the East:
Fuelled by Ghur some kind of hearing-impaired, shade outcast: Kairus
Inspired by Ghyran, a naked, lilly smelling, spitting woman: Artemii
Adpet of Dhar, a mother in law tempered, sometimes ringing bells, corsair’s Ark sorceress: Kaladeth

-=-=-

Kaleth told them the challenge of the day.
Today, you will have to demonstrate your ability to hunt in the wild.

Wild Harpies were a nuisance. Newborn harpies can be tamed.
Find a harpy nest. Kill the adults, bring back their scalps.
Capture the chickens and the eggs, alive.

The team back before sunset with more scalps, chicks and eggs would win.
The other team would get an opportunity for a debrief in the pit.

-=-=-

The six Candidates looked at the sky.
Hardly any cloud. A few sea birds. No harpy in sight.

<OOC. For this day, role-play normally, several posts allowed.
The game ends whenever both teams are back. No RL time limit, not as speedy as the previous days.
Those who don’t post are assumed doing nothing in company with the other ones.
The number of eggs and chicks will be PMed.

In order to help the two stories unfold independently, I’ll start two sub-threads:
The Magic Reality Show (TMRS) – Quest in the West
The Magic Reality Show (TMRS) – Beast in the East
The teams should try not to spread furthermore: two stories to relate are enough.
> IC

Carry on!
<OOC: not below, but in your respective threads. Thanks. > IC

Third day summary.

Six Candidates had gathered that morning.
The challenge of the day was all about harpy hunting: to scalp harpies, to capture their chickens and their eggs, alive.
The team back before sunset with more scalps, chicks and eggs would win.
The other team would get an opportunity for a debrief in the pit.

Three Candidates headed for a Quest in the West: Marcelus Lycanius, Vaelreth Velkyn and Metarchis Avax. All of them had a double name.

Three Candidates went hunting Beast in the East: Kairus, Artemii and Kaladeth. All of them had a single name.

-=-=-

The first group of Candidates to return was coming from the East.
Only Kairus suffered from light wounds.
The party had recovered 5 scalps, 4 harplings and 3 eggs. Total 12.

One hour later, arrived the Candidates from the West.
Marcelus Lycanius and Metarchis Avax suffered from light wounds; Vaelreth suffered from aggressivity and Metarchis from occasional hallucinations (both till midnight).
The party had recovered 7 scalps, 5 harplings and 3 eggs. One of the harplings no longer moved, it probably would not count. Total 14.

-=-=-

The night was arriving.
Kaleth Silverjaw and his escort would soon come out to meet the Candidates.

<OOC
Kinslayer has mentioned his unability to post for undetermined time.
I have to wait for him to signal his ability to resume playing – or his last will, for us to carry on without him.

You have time to RP before the conclusion of the day.
You may wish to try to heal your character's wounds, too.

Meanwhile, you can now have a look to how the other team behaved in very similar conditions.>IC

Metarchis limped wearily into the camp. Those accursed gnomes in the net had continued to bombard him with tiny rocks and balls of grass all the way back to the village. Where they got them from he had no idea. He cursed his hallucinating mind and prayed inwardly that soon this irksome series of sensations, sights and sounds would end.

Spying the other party on the other side of the village, he wondered to himself:

Did we do enough? Did we teach the snivelling hedge wizard, petstore clerk and the ironically named mage of darkness a lesson? Or did they use their nefarious asur ways to sneak one over us?

Well, time would tell, he reasoned. As for now, he decided to enjoy the precious few minutes remaining to restore some vigour into his tired body and wearied soul. He entered first into the tent of the former acolyte of death and quickly acquired for himself his pot. He then took this over to the nearest water source, and placed it byside him while he splashed the chill water over his face and exposed skin, washing away the clotted blood of the foes he had earlier killed with such lust for blood. As the dried blood melted and flowed away, he whispered a nearly silent prayer to Khaine, thanking him for his blessings today. He stood quickly after, feeling revived and refreshed.

With the blood cleaned from his body, Metarchis picked up his newly acquired pot once more, filled it with water and returned to his tent. There, he intended to eat any food that may have been left for him and drink the water to slake his thirst. He felt too physically tired to approach any of the others, and decided to respond to any approaches to him with a cold disinterest. His own lord Khaine hunted and feasted alone. He could no see reason that he should act any differently, not for this evening at least.

Once any food has been eaten and his water drunk, Metarchis decided to try to speed along the healing process with a spell from Khaine. He withdrew one of his remaining skulls from amongst his belongings and held it between his hands. He began to chant:

Khaine, lord of blood and glory
I have killed and murdered in your name this day
Grant unto me the strength and vigour of those I have dispatched
So that I may kill again in your name tomorrow

These words uttered, he pulled the skull close to his face and licked it, running his tongue from the base of the neck all the way over the cranium and then down onto the forehead. The surface tasted grainy against his tongue, and he closed his eyes as he licked it - imagining all of the great and bloody deeds that he would do in his master's name, if only Khaine would return to him the strength deprived from him this day by his wounds. He knew that he did not need the God's support in this forever - eventually his wounds would heal of their own accord - but he would need his favour in this matter for at least the remainder of this trial.

OOC:
Spell: Healing of blood.
Target: Me.
Intended duration: at least 1 week.
Intended affect: heal my wounds.
Additional info: Used a mundane component.

If the spell fails, Metarchis will try the spell twice more, using each of his remaining skulls for the process. If it fails three times, he will reluctantly give up and accept the wounds are going to stay, at least for now.

With a strong sense of dignity, Metarchis readied himself for the prize ceremony. He was representing Khaine, after all!
He took advantage of the short spare time to heal his wounds, just in case a perfect health would be required, in some pit or wherever.
Although it seemed initially that healing was not what Khaine would do best, it appeared that perseverance would pay. The old ones knew well! Youngsters should listen more carefully.
It was time to get out again. Oh, that ceremony was a pain. Why couldn't them just leave him alone for a well deserved rest? OK, he would go, he had no choice, but they would better not expect a smiling face from him.
The grumpy Khainite went out, just in time for the ceremony.

<00C
Spell: Khaine oxymore healing of blood, using fleshless skull.
A.+0 B.-1 C.+1 D.+2 E.-1 F.-2 G.+0 H.+0 I.-1 J.+0 K.+1 total -1+excellent fluff.
Result: failed twice before it is finally cast (was it my "1" cursed die?).
You lost three skulls (licked till destroyed  ) but regain your health.
Side effect: for the next 7 weeks: severe aging (twice) and dread visions (already in effect, so nothing more).
I suggest you to RP the severe aging as follows: the "youngsters are pitiful" mentality ; and the "slippers and armchair next to the fire" attitude.
Note that all RP side effects are not meant to prevent you to do anything else. You can act normally most of the time, just RP the side effect once in a while (i.e. in a small portion of your posts).
Once you're fed up with side effects, you can try a spell to remove them all. Sometimes, it works. Er... sometimes, yeah...

Making the long trek back to the wooden tents Artemii reflected that they had done all they could, every harpling was secure, every egg collected and though they had not managed to skin all of the harpies the beast mage had a few rags of flesh to add to the score, but would it be enough? They arrived back first, the metal guards taking their hard won prises, then they waited. Getting her bag back Artemii restored her things to their usual place and then proceeded to eat a hunk of black bread, it tasted worse than anything she had ever eaten, everything did these days, but sustenance was strength and she might need that tonight, or in days to come.

Just waiting to be thrown down the pit.

Kairus let a smile play across his lips as he caught sight of the iron tower in the distance. They had made it back, just as darkness was setting on the island, their hard earned prizes in hand. Surely it would be enough to beat whatever the other team had brought back from the west? They moved into the camp and handed over their harpie skins, harplings and eggs. The other team arrived back some time later, but it seemed they did so with a couple more harpy scalps in their hands. Kairus cursed his luck as he realised they had lost, and that when night came he, Artemii and Kaladeth would be forced to battle it out down in the pit. Silently, the Beast Mage made his way back to his cabin to get some black bread and prepare his mind for the trials to come.

Marcelus traipsed back to the camp and laid the eggs he had been carrying out so thier host's guards could take them away, presumably to be checked that they weren't fake or magicised or some other such devilry. The odd sounds that everyone and everything had been making had slowly faded to normality, though when they had he heard the khainite mumbling about leprechauns which worried him even more. Now though Marcelus went into his shack and hung up his apron and bow and took his blackened bread outside to eat in his regular spot by the fire and waited to see if anyone would chat tonight.

Just as the sun dipped behind the horison, they arrived back at the tower. The other team was already there, but a quick glance at their loot gave her hope, it seemed they managed to gather a little less.

Even that thought somehow managed to irritate her as she stormed over to one of the guards and dumped the eggs into his arms.

"Be careful, they're fragile. We have three, and if the final count is any less than three eggs even your lord won't be able to protect you" She stared at him with a look that could kill and turned away, fury nearly visible on her person, the return trip with the harplings squealing behind her all the way frayed her nerves to their limits and she was ready to snap at the next person to irritate her, which was nearly equivalent to simply looking at her. Soon she disappeared in her hut and slipped into shadows in one of the corners, watching the door and waiting for them to be called to be judged... she was tired of being judged, maybe she should open a Pit of Shades under that upstart lord?

<OOC:
- Glad to see Kinslayer active.
- Kaladeth has no wound to recover. It seems no necessary to wait for Malus99.
Kairus and Artemii seem not in a mood to have tried to ambush the other team.
Let’s move on!>IC

The night had already started for a while when everybody gathered in front of the tower.
The two groups showed what they had recovered.
The guards picked up all eggs, harplings and scalps. The high sorceress was there to testify that all booty was regular. As expected, she discarded the harpling with the broken skull.

Kaleth Silverjaw complimented both groups for the good success they had during the day.

Alas! One team had proven weaker than the other one. They had to debrief the day in the pit.
As soon as the count was made, six guards seized the three Candidates from the East, who were tied up and gagged, with professional care, just to prevent them to cast anything too early.
At least, they were satisfied to notice that their recently made magic object were left to them. They had not used it yet, it could become useful by now.

-=-=-

The three candidates from the East, Kairus, Artemii and Kaladeth, were brought to the pit.
This time, a guard with a torch had gone down first.
As they were hoisted down, the Candidates could evaluate the dimensions of the pit and the cave below.

It was shaped roughly like a cone, with the pit at the top.
The diagonal of the cave was materialized by a flat rocky spur, on the middle of which they were left standing. The spur orientation was North/South.
The top of the spur was a platform 20 meters long and 2 meters wide, except at the North end where it enlarged into a 4 meters wide circle.

On both sides of the spur were chasms filled with salty water, East and West. The cave was obviously directly linked with the sea through both chasms.
At the highest tides, half a meter would remain above the water. With the rather steep slope on both sides, the spur could be 6 meters wide at lowest tides.
Several uneasy accesses from the sea to the spur were available in case anyone fell into the water.
The platform where they were walking, making the top of the spur, was humid and slightly slippery.

Kairus, Artemii and Kaladeth were now facing each other, making a triangle. Kaladeth was next to one chasm, the other two close to the other chasm, the guard with the torch in the middle.

The guard left a small bag on the floor. He took the gags off. Now the Candidates could talk.
The guard grabbed a rope and was hoisted upwards. However, he kept the torch with him.
He giggled: If you want some light, just make some!
The bag is Quasim’s little gift just for you. Enjoy!

The torch vanished with the guard. The three of them were left in the dark.
They heard the sound of a stone blocking the pit. Whose tomb was it to become?

<OOC: This is now a regular RPG: you can post several times, even edit, wait for the Mod to reply, post again and so on.

You can push each other into the water. However it is quite difficult to push a reluctant person lying on the floor. Especially if your hands are attached. Especially if you can’t see your victim but he can hear you.
You can strangle each other only if your hands are free.
You can do only one thing at a time. There is a single exception: you can try to free your hands and talk simultaneously, but it will slow you down by a minute unless you’re a girl.

Carry on!

Kaladeth was struck by a profound sense of deja vu as she was left stranded in the pit, she couldn't really place quite why, but the sensation was both unmistakable and highly uncomfortable. Taking a moment to orient herself in the dark confines of the cave, she turned towards her former comrades with a darkly foreboding look, her agile fingers subtly probing at the knots of the rope binding her hands, trying to tease it free.
"At least one of us shall not make it out of here alive," she stated coldly, "So all that remains is for someone to decide who shall be betrayed, abandoned and slaughtered. I don't know about you two but I'm not about to sign a friend's death warrant."
Patiently, Kala waited for one of her cohorts to respond, idly wondering if she had misjudged. With a shake of her head she banished the notion from her thoughts and set about her own preparations for an escape that may not be forthcoming, her fingers still plucking away fervently behind her back.

OOC: Well this is awfully familiar...

Kairus' hands had been working on the knotts behind his back from the moment the guard with the torch had been hoisted away into the darkness above. His main concern right then was getting his hands free, and making sure he kept the ladies talking long enough for them not to attack him before that was achieved. Kaladeth was already proclaiming her innocence, ensuring that whoever made the first move would look like the betrayer, which would hopefully secure her own survival. Kairus wasn't so sure. Him and the Ghyran Mage had much in common, and he had to consider who he would rather spend the rest of the competition fighting with and against, and which of the stronger powers it would be wise to remove early on. His mind began to prepare two spells, one to aid his chosen ally and the other to attack his chosen enemy.

First, he would once again cast The Savage Beast of Horros on Artemii. This arcane strength would help her break her bonds and throw her Rose Spear like a reaper bolt.

"Hey friend, how about testing out your new spear? Aim for the heart!" he shouted once he was sure she was untied, without having previously given away his allegiance.

Assuming Artemii went to throw the spear, Kairus would then cast The Flock of Doom on Kaladeth, seeing to it that a cloud of snapping crows encircled her head and blocked her vision...

Down into darkness bound like cattle, it was a nightmare come to life. She would get out and as the light faded away Artemii knew that that meant killing someone. To reach her freedom the wild mage would have killed anyone but the beast mage was closer to her heart than the black sorceress and he seemed to have a similar idea. As her hands scrabbled at the unfamiliar knots her mind was working at solving the issue of sight.

Concentrating hard Artemii began a low, soft song, she was unable to complement it properly with her hands bound and her footing uncertain but it had to be attempted. In a voice filled with sorrow Artemii called out to the earth and sky to let her see the core of their nature, the flow of life itself.

Artemii will cast an awareness spell that should if successful allow her to see the life force of those around her and distinguish between them. This should last for 6 minutes. Think Neo when he got blinded in the last matrix movie

As she cast Artemii felt other magics being wrought, the power of Ghur flowed into her body once more invigorating her, giving her the strength of the beasts of the wood. All of a sudden she could stop scrabbling at the knots and simply tear them apart with the brute force of a bear. With the world lighting up once more Artemii picked her precious spear off the ground where it had been flung and knowing that she had precious little time to make use of the Ghur mage's magical aid she made her throw.

If Artemii successfully manages to cast her vision spell (shall we call it 'parting the veil'?) then she will try and throw the spear as Kairus suggests, if not then she will advance carefully towards Kala and attack her again using the spear (presumably Kairus' buff will have faded by then though) but as a thrusting weapon.

OOC: Kinslayer if Artemii ends up hurling her spear into the sea there is going to be hell to pay :D

In the dark, Kaladeth seemed to offer a chance to peace. However, she was actually preparing a spell of her own, just in case.

Kairus was the first one to try openly to cast anything. After contemplating to help his trusted wolf-woman acolyte, he realized that the best help starts with yourself (and had greater chances of success). He summoned on himself all the salvage strength of Horros. Success! He could feel a formidable strength invigorating his arms. With furious growls that seemed not ever willing to stop, soon the bounds would have to be torn apart.

As soon as she heard the Beast growls and the song of Life, Kaladeth understood that her attempt to break the natural alliance had failed. This was time to release her own little surprise.
A chillwind stormed the whole spur where her two foes were standing idle.

Surprised by the chilly push, Artemii stepped backwards and fell flat into the water. Her life instinct prevailed and she managed to take her head out, despite the bounds still entangling her. The water was icy cold and she was naked, but her enduring nature could sustain that for several minutes.

Kairus made a head-on dive which would have been spectacular had anyone been able to see it. With an increased rage, he exploded the bounds under the water.
He was free finally, but found himself struggling deep in the water, in total dark, having lost his sense of orientation.
Where was the surface? He better found it quickly, he had a few seconds left before drowning.

Metarchis chuckled to himself as he watched the reluctant three losers being dragged off towards the pit. That would teach those young whipper-snappers for their earlier undignified rush to form an asurian alliance of flora and fauna. Perhaps the mages of darkness and fire would think twice before again wanting to join such a feeble crew. That the forces of Khaine were ascendant over all had been once again shown by their spectacular triumph in the task. That was something that those young uns, currently jostling with each other to survive - like stupified mice in a barrel - would never understand.

His wounds had gone and he felt mostly fresh.

Except my bones keep creaking. And why is it so cold?

He shivered and thought warmly about being back home, wearing a pair of slippers in front of a fire, pipe and walking stick in hand.

Wait. I don't own any of those things and I don't do that. Where have these memories come from?

Well, he wasn't going to worry about it now. Instead, he sat down on a comfy spot on the floor of his tent and pondered what tasks may lie ahead. He yawned and considered getting an early night.
"While all answers are replies, not all replies are answers. So answer the question."

Don't be a munchkin?

The icy wind knocked the magic right out of Artemii hurling her over the edge. Cold the arcane breeze might have been but the water was no warmer, skin screaming with pain Artemii managed to hold on to her rose staff. She would not survive long in water like this she knew, she had to get to land and quickly. Desperately the naked elf struck out for where she thought the shore might be kicking with her legs while her staff was held in her bound hands before her like a float. It seemed easier to keep afloat in the poison water than in the lakes and ponds of the forest though no water there was as cold save in the heart of winter.

Plunging blindly through the dark towards where she thought the walls lay Artemii could feel her body growing weaker by the moment, she needed to do something, anything, to keep herself alive for long enough. Drawing on the power of her staff Artemii suckled at its restorative energy and hoped that it would be enough to give her the time she needed.

A random direction was well enough to begin with but for getting back to shore she would need more, her last spell had been ambitious, this would be less so. Chanting through chattering teeth Artemii called upon the winds of life to give her the gift of one last moment of sunlight, the core and building block of all that breathed and grew. Without it she would surely perish.

First Artemii will use the Earth Blood spell bound to her staff to hopefully give her some extra time in the water without dying. At the same time she will try and get as close to the land as she can whilst preparing a light spell. She will hopefully release this spell when she thinks she is close enough to land to get too it quickly.

Spell: Sunlight
Intention: a brief flash of light so that Artemii can see where the access ramps back onto land are.
Concentration: as hard as she can since her life depends upon it but she will carry on swimming at the same time.
Preparation and casting: About two mins
Duration: 6 seconds
