The Magic Reality Show (TMRS) – Who goes into the pit? Day 1

Post by Calisson »

The Magic Reality Show (TMRS) – Who goes into the pit? Day 1

<OOC:
This poll is part of: The Magic Reality Show (TMRS) – Now playing.
The goal is to determine whose performance was not up to the expectations.
All the Candidates had the same goal.
How did they meet it? Was it fluffy? Did you like them?

Vote for the worst of the Candidates.

You are welcome to write your opinion, too!
<EDIT: The poll is open to everyone, even those not playing TMRS!
Even those who have no clue what TMRS stands for.>

All arguments are acceptable.
There may be futile arguments such as “His story was boring and lacked consistence”,
or “The altar was not well chosen in accordance with his Magic wind”.
There may be solid arguments such as “Male Druchii Mages shall all die”,
or “This is not a job for an adept of Khaine”,
or “No decent Druchii would ever practice Beast Magic”,
or “I don’t like him since his character stabbed my character in the course of another RPG”.
Even, “His posts are too long – can’t read that many words”.
There may be tactical arguments such as “He has the potential to win the tournament, the sooner out, the better”,
or "I need to kill someone, I'll vote for my character".

In addition to the polled % reached by each candidate,
there will be 10% added to the one who posted first in the gaming thread,
20% to the next and so on.
The idea is to provide an advantage to whoever dared to imagine a solution without knowing what the others would do.

The poll will last only 24 hours.>
IC

Kaleth Silverjaw took the floor.
Ladies and gentlemen.
We are here to determine who showed too little an understanding of his own arcane powers.

Quasim, your report!

A Master Assassin entered the third floor room, where the deliberation was undergoing.
Report aye aye, Milord.
All candidates were followed all day long. No irregularity was founded.

The Khainite turned his pot into a pocket Cauldron of Blood.
The Beast Lover went as far as finding some worrisome dragon steps. No dragon has been ever seen in the island before, I ordered a dedicated watch.
The smith discovered a new method to make tainted glass, right there on the beach.
The corsair sorceress built a small Stonehenge in the mountain.
The wolf woman grew a new variety of bush.
The Covens sorceress found a cave beneath the mountain and went out relaxed.
Our buddy fellow vanished into a stinky burrow under a hill for a while.
The alchemist drew a pentacle.

I wish the noble assembly a good evening.

Kaleth Silverjaw approved and the Assassin left the room.
Then he turned towards the High Sorceress on his right. She said:
All of them created some dedicated place akin to their Lores.

Kaleth concluded:
They made no mistake. We have to judge them by their merits.
Go ahead. Tell me what you think about the Candidates.
And cast your vote.

Viewing the low number of votes cast so far,
- the fears did not realize, that massive votes, from people not involved in the game, would biaise the result
- the hopes that TMRS became a popular success were not met either.

The predominant part of the outcome will be the "quick" bonus.
+30% for Marcelus Lycanius (smiler666 => Aqshy = Fire)
+80% for Vanatyr (Syjahel => Chamon = Metal)
+20% for Kairus (Kinslayer => Ghur = Beast)
+50% for Artemii (Drainial => Ghyran = Life)
+60% for Vaelreth Velkyn (Dalamar => Ulgu = Shadows)
+40% for Kaladeth (Khel => Dhar =Dark)
+70% for Arhast Kynthan (Malus99 => Shyish =Death)
+10% for Metarchis Avax (Red... => Khaine’s cult)

Some of you can start to prepare yourself to roleplay, starting from tonight.
Barring new votes.
Votes will be closed Mon Oct 31, 2011 5:32 pm, today afternoon.

For the next "Day", I consider to soften up a lot the system:
- asking that only the eight players (deads can vote) and myself voted
- the "quick bonus" will serve only to depart ties.
Open for advice.

@ Kinslayer
Blame my poor English.

@ some of you - you know who you are
Using PM or the RPG Mod's forum to coordinate your votes was fair game - and fun. ;)

The RPG Mod forum was used!? Does that mean that the communication between the moderators playing is limited like the Private Messages (PM spell's and their different effect) are?

Also I don't understand what these bonuses are. What am I getting 40% to and from what?

It's just a rumour that I tried to spread. It did catch one player, as I see.
BTW, I don't have access to that forum.

The Magic Reality Show (aka TMRS), OOC: Add 10% quickness bonus for the first Candidate to have posted, 20% for the second to post, 30% for the third…
The Magic Reality Show (TMRS) – Now playing: A bonus will be granted for the Challengers who posted early.
The Magic Reality Show (TMRS) – Who goes into the pit? Day 1: In addition to the polled % reached by each candidate, there will be 10% added to the one who posted first in the gaming thread, 20% to the next and so on.

As I said just above, I'm considering changing that system. Too much emphasis on the speed. That was fun once, but it should not be permanent.

I wonder whether you could get the poll posted onto the home/portal page? (Where it currently says "RPG Changes") that way folks would see it when they logged in, and have a chance to read the first line or two. I think you might get more people voting that way. Also, if you made it clearer in the first line or two, such as "ALL MEMBERS OF D.NET PLEASE VOTE!" and then went into the details :)

That said, I'm equally happy with it all to be coordinated via voting just by us. I think, though, that we should all sign up to a 'fair play' agreement, where we indicate that any ganging up etc should be done based on the game, not pre-existing friendships... Alternatively, we could be required to provide the Mod with a satisfactory PMed explanation (just a couple of lines) of why we voted the way that we did, again to ensure no pre-game biases are being used. Just my two cents :)

Sorry if it's frustrating having to explain all this stuff to me, never played such a role playing game where I've had to take in so many details (with so many different influences) in a short amount of time. :(

It's just a rumour that I tried to spread. It did catch one player, as I see.

:| Hilarious. Because there aren’t enough things about this game I had to think of, only for it to be just a rumour.

I've become a little confused. Somehow I didn't realise that we had to vote today, which I have now done. :)

Votes will be closed Mon Oct 31, 2011 5:32 pm, today afternoon.

That's fine, might be tough on people in work today though. Which time zone are we using?

I would consider that the game is running on such a tight time schedule anyway that using the time penalty only to solve ties is the best use for it. And not just because I've done really badly out of it, though that did bring it home to me! :D

Looks like me in the pit, who's going to join me there? :p

I've voted Kinslayer, because I know he will put up a good fight and emerge victorious anyway. ;) Like sending a good gladiator into the arena because he'll give a good show, and I need a good show with my dinner.

@ Khel
Sorry if the game is complex.
Not only the rules, but to roleplay between 8 gamers who act rather independantly, worse, in indirect competition, that is a challenge!
In addition , that's a totally new game.
In addition, I keep adjusting and fine-tuning it.
No wonder if you are confused, as, I guess, many more are as well - but are showing it less obviously.
For all these reasons, and because ATM I have plenty of time, I don't mind spending time to explain.
Furthermore, it allows a better fine-tuning of the game, as it occured already several times.

@ Syjahel
Compare D.net official time zone, homepage, to the time of the post.
I cannot tell if it is Continental or UK time zone, especially as the Time Zone Change happened on Sunday morning and I am not sure if the computers did catch up. Hopefully, you're as mixed up as I am.

BTW, the pit means more roleplaying in the short run.
And the first pit will be an exiting discovery for everyone.

For next poll, I should add only 1% for the first poster, 2% for the second...
Then the influence of the votes will be paramount, the speed bonus will only help the tie up.

Official results of the first Day:

Poll closed.
12 votes cast. The vote did attract a few more people than the participants.

19%=09%+10% for Metarchis Avax (Red... => Khaine’s cult)
45%=25%+20% for Kairus (Kinslayer => Ghur = Beast)
63%=33%+30% for Marcelus Lycanius (smiler666 => Aqshy = Fire)
40%=00%+40% for Kaladeth (Khel => Dhar =Dark)
58%=08%+50% for Artemii (Drainial => Ghyran = Life)
68%=08%+60% for Vaelreth Velkyn (Dalamar => Ulgu = Shadows)
78%=08%+70% for Arhast Kynthan (Malus99 => Shyish =Death)
80%=00%+80% for Vanatyr (Syjahel => Chamon = Metal)

Conclusion:
The speed bonus was by far the predominant factor.
Therefore, the last three to have posted will be the first three to be sent to the pit.
Next time, I’ll make the speed factor much less important, so the votes will be predominant. Next time.

Damn, most votes and I still avoided the pit. I would definitely agree that the system is broken, not complaining though ;)
