TMRS2 – ended

Post by Calisson »

The Magic Reality Show 2 – At the World Magic Fair.

Hi, this is Calissimo. Welcome to Miragliano’s World Magic Fair!
Every 20 years, all professionals and amateurs of magic items gather in the city of Miragliano, in Tilea.
The Fair welcomes all origins, all races, abiding to every possible magic, religious and scientific system.
This event is the largest international exhibition of magic objects in the world!
Before I let you discover the Fair, I would like to thank again our main sponsor, Roll-Hex, “with Roll-Hex, it’s so easy to hex”.
All around the Fair, countless stalls display all kind of magic objects, arcane artifacts, fancy creations, esoteric relics, supernatural masterpieces, ancient codexes, various scrolls and tomes, rune calligraphy, ensorcelled equipment, enchanted accessories, marvels and wonders, prodigies, mysteries and miracles, every possible and impossible natural or unnatural phenomenon, charms, amulets, talismans, luckstones, rods, staffs, wands, shards, potions, brews, concoctions, mixtures and the likes, as well as the rarest ingredients used to make them.

One of the most popular attractions is the Magic Reality Show, where craftsmen selected from the whole world compete in public.
The competition is fairly simple:
Each competitor brings to the Show one tool (magic wand, anvil…), four precious components and three unnatural components. Everything else will be provided to them, guinea pigs included.
Every day, they enchant one object provided to them. It can be enchanted for as long as they wish, either one day for demonstration purpose, or one year for selling it later.
Once done, they show their creation to the crowd in a live experience.

The crowd votes to determine who will try his experiment in a real magic combat.
If only two competitors are present, the vote serves to provide an advantage to one of the competitors - or no vote happens.

Next thing, the two designated competitors remain in the arena, with all the magic objects they have made so far.
They fight against each other.
They can use their objects, they can also cast spells.
The loser is booed out of the Fair (his close family will be allowed to make a visit once a day till recovery – or to claim the body, whichever is applicable).

At the end of the week, the last competitor earns the “Roll-Hex” Cup, offered by the sponsor.
Complementary earnings are made with half of the money recovered by selling all the magic objects made during the week.
In addition, the winner will be granted the level (3) of his magic and, much more important, a world reputation.

The Magic Reality Show 2 – Monday. Calligraphy contest.

The crowd in the arena cheered frantically. Even after so many spectacular magic tricks, the astonishing apparition of a dozen of white rabbits jumping out from his hat was unbelievable.
That was the end of his show. Mandrake the Lizardman saluted, the crowd waived him a passionate goodbye and the master of trickery moved away.

-=-=-

After a few minutes, the Master of Ceremony came back in the middle of the arena in his bright, colorful dress.
Calissimo took his adamantium Azir loudspeaker and adressed the cheering crowd after a short while.
Hi, this is Calissimo, again. We’re having a great time today in Miragliano’s World Magic Fair!

Good news! Time has come for the next event.
This will be an open competition. That’s right, any of you can compete, provided you’re gifted in some kind of magic.

Today’s task is a Calligraphy contest.
But this is special calligraphy. It’s magic calligraphy!
For your pleasure, the competitors will create, in front of you, some magic scrolls!
When they’re done, they will make a demonstration just for you!
And, more impressive, the show will end with a magic duel!

<crowd cheers loudly>
For the best competitor before the duel, there will be something special.
Our sponsor, Roll-Hex, is offering nothing less than a working copy of their famous Sivejir’s Hex Scroll, the very same that turns wizards into toads! A big thank you to Roll-Hex, “with Roll-Hex, it’s so easy to hex”.

<crowd shouts enthusiastically>

So, who is daring enough to compete in that field?
Anyone here?
There?
Here you are! I see the first competitor. Congratulations. Everybody please applause!
<crowd applauses> Thank you.

Is there a contestant?
Come on, don’t be shy!
No, not you, you must be able to read and write.
<crowd laughs> Oh can you? Sure, come in!

-=-=-

After a while, no other competitor showed up.
Seats and a tables were set.
Three blank scrolls were provided to each competitor.
Ink was available in various colors and essence including liquid gold, invisible ink or diverse blood flasks.
All kind of pens were provided, from goose up to griffon.
On the edge of the arena were raised as many scarecrows as there were competitors.

-=-=-

Calissimo took back the floor.
Before we start the contest, I would like to thank again our main sponsor, Roll-Hex, “with Roll-Hex, it’s so easy to hex”. Please applause the competitors! <crowd cheers>
In one hour from now, the three scrolls must contain the same spell.
One will be demonstrated on a scarecrow.
The other two will be available for use during… the duel!

<OOC: Scarecrow: WS 1 - S 3 - T 3 - D 0 - I 0. IC >
<at the crowd> Make sure not to get too close to the competitors, you never know, accidents sometimes happen. The organization of the Show refutes any responsibility about any damage that might occur because of one of the competitors.

Now, let me introduce each of the competitors, and give him a chance to explain what he will do next hour.

-=-=-

<OOC: this is an open game. You can register with the Character creation even if the show has begun.

Please post your actions of the first part of day, stopping short before the duel. You can take inspiration from the Day competition template
This includes:
- presentation of your character through a dialogue with Calissimo – choose yourself Calissimo’s words;
- the choice of components;
- casting an optional preparatory spell if you wish, such as consecrating the place;
- casting the magic object spell and the embedded spell which will create the scroll (it has to be done 3 times); it is done with the Magic objects part of TMRS2Spell castingsystem.
- what you do if you fail to cast or if you miscast;
- include some funny interaction with the crowd, if you want;
- and, at the end of the hour, describe the effects of one of the scrolls used against a scarecrow (you might have to push the crowd aside); please tell what you do if you fail the first attempt.
The eventual miscast and side effects will be provided afterwards by the mod - you'll be able to edit your post with that result.

-=-=-

When all competitors have posted, I'll provide the results of spells and miscast effects.
Then the floor will be yours for... the duel
During the duel, you'll be authorized any spell you may know, plus the two remaining scrolls. You can benefit from your magic tool (wand...).

-=-=-

Carry on!

Snibbly lookd around, feeling rather bewildered. In his experience, when a crowd of this size assembled together, it could only mean one thing.

Calissimo looked across at Snibbly and then placed his Azir loudspeaker in front of his mouth and started to speak:

"What in heaven's name are you doing?" he asked, a bewildered look stemming across his face.

"Hiding from rocks" replied Snibbly, curled up tightly in a ball, with his arms clamped firmly over his head.

"What rocks?" asked Calissimo, with an expression that mixed bemusement with irritation.

"The rocks they are going to throw at me. Big crowds always throw rocks at each other, and Snibbly" explained Snibbly, still refusing to move out of his tortoise like ball.

Calissimo beckoned to one of the nearby retainers, who promptly gave Snibbly a hefty kick in the back. Snibbly rolled over, released his arms and looked up at the towering Calissimo who started down at him with a perplexed look.

"So, what are you going to make for us today?" he asked, hoping to move things on a bit more quickly.

"Snibbly going to make a scroll of itchiness" replied the scrawny looking goblin, standing up on his two feet again, although looking around rather warily at the crowd. "Snibbly is going to make his enemies squirm and scratch all day long"

"And are you going to make the scroll last for a day or for a year" asked Calissimo, looking more pleased now that the goblin was no longer huddled in a ball.

"Snibbly going to make a scroll to last for a day" replied Snibbly. "A year is a very long time. That must be..." Snibbly started counting on his fingers, but by the time he reached the third one had managed to get confused and finally, after some shuffling of feet, continued: "many days."

"Okay then" replied Calissimo, feeling suddenly very tired from talking to this infantile green skin."You do that. I'm going to go and stand over there."

The crowd laughed as Calissimo stomped away from the scrawny little goblin. What kind of contestant was this anyway? He looked closer to a boiled toad. Someone from the crowd called out: "I think that one's already been zapped by Sivejir’s Scroll". The Crowd roared with laughter. Snibbly turned and looked at the offender with sulky eyes, noted down his location, and then scuttled off to begin work on his scrolls.

During the day, Snibbly worked hard on his scrolls. His knowledge of writing wasn't exactly so good, and his lack of knowledg about how to use either a pen or ink made his life tougher still. However, he was equipped with his trusty wand (wonky stick), which he used to punch holes into the pieces of parchment he had given, muttering secret words of power to himself in a voice that fluctuated from sullen and sulky to high pitched and giggly. Once he had punched enough holes into each scroll, Snibbly plumped his hand into a bottle of purple looking ink and began finger painting onto the scrolls, each in turn. He sang while he painted, happily dawbing funny looking stickmen doodles onto each. To the casual passer by, these might have resembled nothing more than the random artwork of an unfocused child, however on closer inspection it was just about possible to see that the stickmen that Snibbly had drawn were scratching themselves and jumping up and down. Snibbly might not be able to write, but he sure as heck could draw pictures for Mork and Gork to show them exactly what he wanted done.

<OOC:
Spell: Create Scroll of Itchy Nuisance (#3 spell of the Little Waagh)
Target: Scroll
Intended effect: Create a magic scroll that contains the Itchy Nuisance Spell
Intended duration: One day
Other comments: No magic components are being used.

If Snibbly fails to cast the spell, he will try again and again until either: the spell has been cast or Snibbly explodes in a big ball of green goblin bits. Once he has created one scroll, he will continue casting until he has created all three magic scrolls>

At the end of the day, Snibbly returned to the arena, whereupon he proudly handed his collection of scrolls over to Calissimo. From about twenty yards to his left, he heard a voice cry out:

"Hey, what are you doing? Don't give your scrolls to the catering staff - give it to me. Yes, me, Calissimo, over here!"

Snibbly looked confused, then obligingly walked away from the women dressed in canteen clothes and over to the owner of the voice. These tall people all look so alike, he thought, as he handed over his scrolls to the real Calissimo.

"So, Snibbly" spoke up Calissimo, "are you ready to pilot your illustrious sample of arcane sorcery on our test-drive dummy scarecrow model?"

Snibbly stared at him blankly for several long moments.

"Eh?" he answered, scratching his head in confusion.

Calissimo sighed. This was going to be a long contest. "Are you ready to zap the straw thing?"

Snibbly jibbered excitedly and nodded his assent. He then reached up to reclaim one of the three scrolls from Calissimo's slender hands. Once taken, he unrolled the piece and began cackling happily to himself in a shrill, high pitched voice that hurt Calissimo's ears and made him beat a hasty retreat away from the annoying little goblin. After a few moments of cackling and making weird gestures with his magic wand (wonky stick), Snibbly dropped the scroll onto the ground (where it promptly evaporated) and jabbed one of his crooked fingers outwards. He did not point, however, to the scarecrow, but instead gestured at the irritating spectator who had earlier made the unpleasant gibe about Snibbly looking like a frog.

<OOC:
Spell: Itchy Nuisance
Target: The thug in the crowd who made fun of Snibbly (Errr...Snibbly means the scarecrow, the fact his wand is pointing directly at the spectator rather than the scarecrow doesn't matter...honest...)
Intended effect: Make the spectator itch incessantly
Intended duration: 10 minutes
Other comments: No components used

If Snibbly fails to cast the spell, he will try again with a second scroll. If that too fails then he will jump and down on the ground in a terrible tantrum, before curling up into a ball and crying hysterically>

At first nothing seemed to happen. But after about half a minute, the spectator started to scratch himself. These were just small motions at first, but they quickly transformed into large motions as the unfortunate man started tearing at his skin to try to stop the frenzied itching that had overwhelmed his body. Fortunately for the man in question, his seat was located quite close to one of the safety warden tents and within less than a minute after the itching fit burst out, one of the safety wardens had rushed to the scene, read out a scroll of dispelling, and helped the man on his way to the First Aid tent.

Snibbly snickered loudly to himself, and then turned towards Calissimo, prostrating himself on his knees.

"I'm sorry Great Master. Snibbly got all confused. Man look like scarecrow. Snibbly aim better next time!"
"While all answers are replies, not all replies are answers. So answer the question."

Don't be a munchkin?

OOC.
Result of reading: can't read anymore because of laughing tears.
Compliments for outstanding roleplay. :D

-=-=-

Results of spells.

First step: to cast “magic object” on scroll #1 to #3.
A:+1 creation. B:+0 unusal (per game's rules). C:-1 handful of scrolls (they are light enough so let's take them all). D:-2 touched. E:+0 till midnight.
F:+0 level2. G:+1 normal ground & time. H:+0, 15 min prep, 1 min casting. I:+1 magic wand. J:+0 loudy & visible casting, no concentration afterwards.
Total so far +0, therfore K:+0 detrimental. Total remains +0.
To cast: "I" test with I=5 (that's why the gob nearly knew how to write).
Roll: 2, success, with 3 margin => increase duration of the spell: the scrolls will last 1 week.
Side-effect (detrimental): 6 = dizziness till midnight; nobody will notice compared to usual.

Second step: to enbed the spell Itchy Nuisance into the newly created virgin magic scrolls.

Scroll #1
A:+0 aggression. B:-2 well known spell. C:-1 no wound for an accurate person. D:+0 visual distance. E:-1 a few minutes.
F:+0. G:+1. H:+1, 10 seconds for future casting (preparation no longer required in future uses). I:-1 scroll will be destroyed. J:+0 loudy & visible casting, no concentration afterwards.
Total so far -3, therefore K:+1 mild. Total becomes -2.
Rolled: natural 1, not only the spell lasts 7 minutes but, in addition, the user of the scroll will have some kind of remote control about where the victim is itched!
Side effect: 2, strange smell.

Scroll #2, same conditions.
Rolled 2, lasts 6 minutes. Side effect 1, coloured smoke.

Scroll #3, same conditions.
Rolled 5, lasts 3 minutes. Side effect 3, sweat.

Using one of the scrolls.
I'll assume that it was scroll #3 which has been used, Snibbly kept with him the nicest drawings, especially the one which seems to dance vith more vigor.
The victim was allowed a test to avoid the effect, but failed (rolled 5 for I=1).

Inventory.
You can add to your inventory Scroll #1 (providing some control) and Scroll #2.
Both of them will last 1 week before the drawings cease to dance and fade away.

Now that you know the results of the spells, you're welcome to edit your post if you wish so.

Kha'Rak marched down from the stands as the audience applauded and came to a stop in front of Calissimo, simply staring at the little man as though contemplating something, then there was a shift behind his eyes and he announced, "I am Kha'Rak stoneheart, Doombull of the bloodhorn tribe of the old forest."

"I am Calissimo, master of the ceremonies," Calissimo's uncanny imitation was met by laughter from the crowd, but not from Kha'Rak, "so what are you going to make for us today Mr. Stoneheart?"

Kha'Rak eyed Calissimo for a moment then replied, "scrolls of the viletide, it's the least I could do to help you feel at home." And with that Kha'Rak stomped over to the table where the fancy inks and scrolls were laid out, not bothering to look back and notice his attempt at a joke had fallen flat.

At the work table Kha'Rak examined the various inks, pulled a pot containing greenish, cuddled blood and promptly swept everything else to the ground. Next he carefully unraveled a hide from around his shoulders and tore it into three roughly equal sized squares, before forcing a finger through the small neck of the blood pot and started to draw out designs, that seemed to writhe before the eye and could not be watched for long before your mind began to ache, onto the smooth inside of the pelt. As he drew Kha'Rak's eyes shifted again, thier irises and whites disappearing into the expanding black of thier pupils, and he began to chant in a language that offended the ears, several audience members had to be taken to the first aid tents with eardrums that had burst themselves rather than listen to the unholy chanting.

OOC: spell - viletide (the first lore of the wild spell) scrolls
duration - one year
Components - Razgor pelt (rare)
Target - the sections of pelt
Kha'Rak will attempt to recast if he fails and I assume the pelt only counts for one creation not all three?

At the end of the hour with his work done Kha'Rak returns to the centre of the of the arena and, without waiting for any of Calissimo's nonsensical banter, unfurls one of the folded squares of fur and shouts the name of the slug-father of the woods.

OOC: spell - viletide
Duration - ten minutes
Target - a scarecrow (or anyone who gets in the way, whichever comes first)
If the first scroll fails Kha'Rak will remain unfazed and unfurl the next one, if the second scroll fails Kha'Rak will growl ominously and unfurl the final one impatiently, if all three fail Kha'Rak will start tearing apart members of the audience untill security personnel stop him.

Immediately the ground below the centre scarecrow began to churn and thousands of insects and spiders and beetles poured from the ground to cover the makeshift target in moments, after a few minutes the gribblies scattered away leaving a tattered sack and a pile of straw where the scarecrow had stood.

OOC.
Thanks Smiler666 for the competition spirit.

-=-=-

Results of spells.

F:+0 level2. G:+1 normal ground & time. H:+0, 15 min prep, 1 min casting. I:+1 magic wand. J:+0 loudy & visible casting, no concentration afterwards.
Total so far +1, therfore K:+0 detrimental. Total remains +1.
To cast: "I" test with I=5 (that's why the gob nearly knew how to write).
Roll: 3, success, with 2 margin.
Side-effect (detrimental): 2 = pestilence for one year - not that it makes any difference compared to usual.

Second step: to embed the spell Viletide into the newly created virgin magic scrolls.

Scroll #1
A:+0 aggression. B:-2 well known spell. C:+0 affects a dozen persons in range, with many light wounds (not mortal). D:+0 visual distance. E:-1 a few minutes.
F:+0. G:+1. H:+1, 10 seconds for future casting (preparation no longer required in future uses). I:-1 scroll will be destroyed. J:+0 loudy & visible casting, no concentration afterwards.
Total so far -2, therefore K:+1 mild. Total becomes -1.
Rolled: 5, failed, :( the whole process will have to be done again (the scroll is back to "mundane" status).
Side effect: not applicable, because the spell would not have been cast.

Scroll #2, same conditions.
Rolled 5 again, failed again. :(

Scroll #3, same conditions.
Rolled 2, lasts 5 minutes. Side effect 5, drunkenness (for the user of the scroll).

Second attempt at First step: to cast “magic object” on scroll #1 to #2.
Rolled 6, autofail with 2 as side effect, more pestilence.

Third attempt at First step: to cast “magic object” on scroll #1 to #2.
Rolled 1, :D the two scrolls will last as long as the life span of the creator!
In addition, the two pelts are so eager to make unholy noises that they can fart at will.
Side effect: 5 aggressiveness during one year (no need to force nature, isn't it?).

Scroll #1, same conditions as previously.
Rolled 4, cast. It will last 2 minutes. Side effect 3, sweat.

Scroll #2, same conditions as previously.
Rolled 4, cast. Side effect identical.

Using one of the scrolls.
I'll assume that it was scroll #3 which has been used, Kha'Rak keeps with him what he is the proudest of.
No magic resistance for the scarecrow.
The effect of the spell is as described, except that the destruction of the scarecrow comes not from the spell, but from the natural hunger of termits.

Inventory.
You can add to your inventory Scroll #1 and #2.
Both of them will last many years.
They can fart at will, once a day (no effect except "unholy" noise & smell).
They summon thousands of insects and spiders and beetles (and bearer's sweat). These insects don't kill, but cause light wounds to a dozen persons and may or may not destroy part of their equipment.
During 2 minutes, the victim hardly can do anything else than trying to put off the swarm.

Now that you know the results of the spells, you're welcome to edit your post if you wish so.
It seems that the attempts at writing spells were not as successful as hoped for. That might be a source for roleplaying.

The Magic Reality Show 2 – Monday evening.

The show was going nowhere.
Many empty bleachers. Among the remaining folks, mostly humans, there was a family of goblins and a lonely ungor.
People were eating and drinking, not paying much attention to the performance of the magic users inside the arena.
At least, the result of the contest would not trigger one more dispute among hooligans.

Hi, this is Calissimo again.
This is the time when the two competitors will get a chance to fight each other directly, in a magic contest.
No more scarecrow
- No more public freightening.

But before they start, let me deliver the award to the best scroll designer:
Snibbly the goblin shaman! Please appause!

<Hardly anyone in the crowd bother to give a glance>

Here you are, Snibbly, compliments, the award is for you.
Yes, for you, who else? No, it's a gift, you don't need to hide it as if it was stolen.
That copy of the famous Sivejir’s Hex Scroll, the one that turns wizards into toads, is now yours! Thank you to Roll-Hex, “with Roll-...
...Uh?... Hey, Mr. Stoneheart, easy, that's a game!
No! Your target is the goblin, not me!
HELP!

A large reddish cloud appeared in the arena, providing a cover to poor Calissimo, who vanished from Kha'Rak's sight.
He was quickly escorted to safety - and first aid - barely booed and hissed by a couple of more attentive blokes.

Now, the two competitors were only separated by a smoke cloud.
How would they fight each other? Nobody would expect a fair fight, would they?

OOC.
Magic competition.
You can act as you wish, cast what you want. One spell should be enough, but mention what you do in case of failure.
I'll provide the results.

The toad hex scroll has 50% chances of working, because of the magic resistance of the target. It takes a few seconds to read (it's an arcane writing that auto-helps illiterate readers to read - albeit slowly).

Please, specify beast spells when you use them as I own not the appropriate army book.

In case of simultaneous spell casting, the first to post has the lead.

Snibbly stared at the scroll in his hand curiously for a few moments. The symbols inscribed upon its illustrious looking parchment meant nothing to him.

Calissimo coughed politely and took the scroll back out of Snibbly's boney green fingers, flipped it 180' degrees and handed it back to him again. "It was upside down...". He then turned and walked briskly away. More attentive members of the audience may have heard him finish his sentence with "...you idiot. Roll-Hex doesn't pay me enough for this crap" but Snibbly was too busy staring at the inscriptions on the parchment to pay any attention. Unfortunately, the symbols looked just as alien to Snibbly when viewed from this way up as they had before. Still, he reasoned that if he screamed loudly, jumped up and down and threw the Scroll on the ground then it should still work...right?

As the smoke screen appeared, signalling the start of the actual fight, Snibbly threw down one of his remaining two Itchy Nuisance Scrolls, hurling the magic energies in the general direction of the smoke screen, hoping desperately that enough of the spell would get through to inconvenience and delay the gigantic goat-thing behind it.

Immediately after casting the spell, Snibbly did what Snibbly does best, and legged it. As he ran, he pulled out of his Wyvern Scales from his pocket and, imbuing it with the arcane power of Mork and Gork, threw it in the air while calling upon a mighty shroud of darkness to obscure him from his dastardly looking foe. He then dived on the ground, hoping to make his body into as small a target as possible.

Finally, once fully flat on the ground and submerged beneath the dark cloud of his night shroud, Snibbly stared with unusually baleful eyes at his goat-like opponent. At the same time, he reached down into his shoddy looking robes, pulled out one of his Savage Orc hairs and snapped it between his fingers.

Snibbly will throw his scroll of Toadmaking onto the ground to activate it if he senses that the Beastman is going to cast a spell of any kind, and see what happens...

<OOC:

Spell 1: Scroll of Itchy Nuisance (Spell of the Little Waagh #3, casting value 8+)
"Itchy Nuisance is a hex spell with a range of 24". Roll a D6. The target unit immediately reduces its Movement and Initiative by this number (to a minimum of 1), until the start of the Caster's next Magic phase".
Target: The beastman.
Duration: About 30 minutes.
Other comments: Scroll used.

Spell 2: Night Shroud (Spell of the Little Waagh #5, casting value 9+)
"Night Shroud is an augment spell that covers the Shaman and any unit he is with. They count as being in soft cover until the beginning of the caster's next Magic phase. Any enemy model in contact with the Shaman or the unit he is with while the spell is in effect must take a Dangerous Terrain Test."
Target: Snibbly da mighty Shaman of zapping stuff and conjuring big scary dragguns and wot not
Duration: About 30 minutes
Other comments: Wyvern Scale used (unnatural component).

Spell 3: Vindictive Glare (Spell of the Little Waagh #1, casting value 5+) (Snibbly is casting the boosted up version)
"Vindictive Glare is a magic missile with a range of 24" and causes 2D6 S3 hits. The Shaman can choose to boost the power of the spell so that it inflicts 3D6 S3 hits. If he does so, the casting value is increased to 10+"
Target: The beastman.
Duration: Long enough to kill him.
Other comments: Savage Orc hair used (precious component).

In the case of failure, for the first two spells Snibbly will simply keep on going (i.e. he won't attempt to recast them). With the last spell, Snibbly will keep on trying, using up his remaining Savage Orc hairs one by one for each attempt (and then his second wyvern scale, if he still has it), until he either succeeds or scatters his own body parts around the arena like the shards of an over-inflated balloon that has grown so big that it popped.>

Kha'Rak took a swing Calissimo as he ran out of the arena, then rounded on where the goblin had disappeared into the red mist - both internal and external. Then he stopped short and blinked, as though thinking hard, until his something shifted behind his eyes and a look of conniving menace slipped over the building rage and a grim aura formed around him. Instead of chasing after the little greenskin Kha'Rak reached down, unhooked a shrunken orc's head and crushed it in his palm, then turned his head toward where the snivelling noises were coming from and loosed a magic-powered scream.

With some of the smoke cleared Kha'Rak had a better view of where the runty creature had got to and pounded after, tearing apart one of his newly made scrolls to unleash the tide and keep the goblin from running away too much before he could get his hands on it. As soon as Kha'Rak got close enough he grabbed the goblin and proceeded to crush the life out of it.

OOC: Spell 1 - Bray-scream (lore of the wild spell 3, casting 10+, The shaman makes a breath weapon attack at strength 3 with no armour saves allowed

Let me put the actions in the appropriate order, as I understand them (i.e. as they happen regardless of your intentions).

-=-=-

1. Calissimo has a red cloud summoned and gets out of the way.
    Snibbly <red cloud> - Kha'Rak

-=-=-

2. Immediately, Snibbly cast Itchy Nuisance Scroll at cloud.
Kha'Rak wonders where is Snibbly and does not penetrate the cloud.
    Snibbly <itchy/red cloud> Kha'Rak
Snibbly uses scroll #2, with a hysteric laughter.
It autoworks (that's a scroll).
The red cloud turns purple (blend colours) and becomes itchy for 6 minutes.
Did Calissimo make it away quickly enough? Nearly. One of his escort, however... but that's off topic - still, it distracts the happy crowd.

-=-=-

3. Kha'Rak bray-screams the purple cloud.
He consumes one precious component.
Spell casting: Bray-scream.
A:+0. B:-2. C:+0 can't be accurate, target not seen. D:-1 (breath). E:-1 (breath).
F:+0. G:+1. H:+1. I:+0. J:-1. K:+1. Total -2.
Rolled 5, passed, lasts 4 minutes. Side effect 3, sweat.
Note: as there's nobody in the cloud, nobody is hurt but the cloud - which will dissipate.

At the same time, Snibbly runs further away and casts Night Shroud, making another cloud.
Spell casting: Night Shroud.
A:-1. B:-2. C:+0. D:-1. E:+0.
F:+0. G:+1. H:+1. I:-1. J:+0. K:+1. Total -2.
Rolled 3, passed, high margin, duration will be a week. Side effect 2: strange smell.
Result: a dark cloud centered close to Snibbly's position, 3 metres radius. Visibility inside: 40 cm.
    <Snibbly inside smelly black cloud> - <vanishing screamed/itchy/purple cloud> - Kha'Rak
The two opponent still cannot see each other.

-=-=-

4. The scream dissipates the purple cloud (towards a direction to be determined).
Let's see in which direction the cloud is blown.
Rolled a little bit off on the right (it had 1/3 chances to come back to originator).

Kha'Rak reads the viletide scroll at the black cloud (with Snibbly inside).
Scroll used. Autoworks. For two minutes, the black cloud will host thousands of insects and spiders and beetles.
Snibbly waits to see his target but can't see anything.
    <Snibbly inside black cloud/viletied> - Kha'Rak
Please, Red, post something about the epic battle between the swarms and Snibbly's own microfauna, crabs, lice, cockroaches and the likes. Snibbly's side will lose, but you can make it memorable! :P
There's no way for Snibbly to escape, however the wounds don't last more than the spell - 2 minutes - and are not mortal.

-=-=-

5. Kha'Rak gets physical and searches the cloud for the goblin. Not an easy task.
The cloud is not that large but the visibility is very poor and Snibbly is tiny.
Kha'Rak has enjoyed the insanities yelled by Snibbly at the swarms, but the best pleasures only last some time and it's over by now.
<Snibbly motionless inside black cloud, Kha'Rak running amok inside black cloud>
As soon as Snibbly sees his target, he casts Vindictive Glare. This happens before Kha'Rak can stomp him, of course.
Spell: Vindictive Glare
A:+0. B:-2. C:-1 (mortal wound). D:-1. E:-1 (minutes).
F:+0. G:+1. H:+2. I:+0. J:+0. K:+1 total -1.
Rolled 4, cast, duration 4 min. Side effect 3, sweat.
Effect: 7 hits, 4 wounds.
Kha'Rak is "mortally" wounded for 4 minutes. He falls. Timmmbeeeer!
He falls directly on Snibbly.
With a lifetime experience in avoiding hits, Snibbly jumps to safety (D roll) and easily escapes (3 margin).

-=-=-

6. Now, Snibbly is lost in the dark cloud.
Kha'Rak is lying inside the cloud, somewhere.

-=-=-

Kha'Rak: -1 precious component; -Scroll #2.
Snibbly: -1 unnatural component; -1 precious component; -Scroll #2.

smiler666 wrote:... turned his head toward where the snivelling noises were coming from and loosed a magic-powered scream.

With some of the smoke cleared Kha'Rak had a better view ...
Reading that, I understood that:
- the target needed not to be seen but the general direction was enough
- the result of the scream was to dissipate the smoke (which seems very appropriate with the spell's fluff).

Anyway, ;)

The Magic Reality Show 2 – Monday evening epic battle.

A large reddish cloud appeared in the arena, providing a cover to poor Calissimo, who vanished from Kha'Rak's sight.
He was quickly escorted to safety - and first aid.
Unfortunately for one of his escort, the cloud suddenly turned purple, and simultaneously it became rather toxic.
The poor bouncer started scratching his neck, his back, his... well, his whole body.
A few laughters in the crowd awoke the rest of the public.
I must ask a bonus to Roll-Hex or else...

Annoyed not to have any target anymore, Kha'Rak took a deep, deep breath and blew off the cloud in a memorable scenery which was later used by a scenarist in a tale with three pigs and a wolf, but that's another story.
The cloud dissipated towards the crowd which screamed but for no reason, it had dissipated before it could reach them.

Another cloud had appeared, this time very dark. The goblin was no longer to be seen anywhere, he probably was hiding in that cloud by now. Possibly he was already burrowing to safety.

Again frustrated not to see the gobbo, highly suspecting that he was hiding in the cloud, Kha'Rak sent an army of insects to assault the whole cloud.
Soon enough, high pitch screams proved him to be right.
Nobody could imagine the epic battle going on inside Snibbly's pants, except Snibbly himself.

Still, insects were not enough to kill a goblin - unless he was so attached to his own pest that he would die from sorrow?

Kha'Rak went head on inside the cloud. Sometimes, a horn or the whole head would emerge but quickly he would look down and vanish again in the dark.
The cloud was dense and thick and seemed not willing to dissipate despite the bulky body penetrating it thoroughly.
After he had crossed the cloud two or three times, something happened.
An obsucre light managed to lit somehow the cloud from inside.
A wild scream was heard, followed by a high pitch squeak, then a loud thomp.

And... nothing more for the moment.
Everyone was scrutinizing the cloud, ears wide open.

Who would emerge victor?

OOC:
Red...'s chance to post what happened with the swarms, and what will Snibbly do.
I did not have him use the toad scroll, but the temptation was strong... ;)

OOC: Sorry Calisson, last couple of days have been very busy and haven't had the chance to write up a RPG style post for this - will do so in the next day or so.
