Finishing the project

Current status

The list is more or less finished and playtested, ready to be submitted to SG.

ANSOB left and I found myself a mod here. I plan to send the list to SG this month. However, before I do that, I would like to know your opinions on several issues:

1) Long-lived rule. Is it OK? I do not like it, and if you agree, will mark it as a controversial, possibly unbalancing rule.

2) If you agree, I would also like to mention "Combat movement" skill here
as an untested idea of the sixth skill. There are other ideas in the thread, but I consider this one to be easiest to implement and occasionally useful. And it is mine ;-)

3) Any other last minute fixes or comments?

ANSOB is away? That explains the silence on this board for a while.
Sending this list to SG will at least give it a little bump.

To your points:

1) The Long-lived rule is somethink that shall be decided by SG for all elves or none. Since elven lists tend to have a low model count it might suffer strongly under this rule. I'd opt to mark it for the discussion at SG, but leaving it in the warbend for now.

2) Combat movement is at least a nice thought. Sending it won't hurt, bu keep in mind that it appears really seperated from the rest - so to say the Beta.

3) No fixes at all! We were settled at the Alpha4 already. I'd say that you shall send the list and make a closed sticky thread for the Beta list, Just for the reference. For additional playtesting I might contribute from mid of novembre.

Switch "Long Lived" for "Frail but Fey".

I'm with CtO on this one and since "Frail but Fey" has been more or less established for all other fan elven warbands I have come across on the SGFs lately I'd gladly accept it for our attempt, too.

And what is that "Frail but Fey" rule about?

btw - Your avatar and sig appear in false colors in my browser. Or is it me?

No, you are contradicting him.

Quoting from Mordheim forum on SG:

Frail but Fey: Elves have a sort of delicate, but magical constitution. Elves may never permanently increase their Toughness attribute beyond a value of 3 (treat their Toughness as having reached its maximum value). They may also never take the Resilient skill from the Strength List. However, their Toughness can never be permanently lowered (treat any injuries that would result in such a decrease as a Full Recovery instead). Thus, their Toughness must always be equal to 3.

Regarding the "Low model count, might suffer strongly from LL" part?

Now, that FbF rule is a nice fluffy one!
I'd say we put the Beta with LL, but mark it to switch to FbF if all elves from
SG have it.

FbF might give us the opportunity to have the old skill allowing one Guy to take strength skills. Considering this would make all guys cheer up in lust, who want their "executioner" severing heads in Mortheim

No. He agreed to mark LL as controversial, you said you agree and then suggested to exchange it for FbF instead. But now it does not matter as he agrees with you about the exchanging. But I did not delete LL. After all, this is what we tested, FbF is untested.

Now I made all the changes into Alpha4, so chack it. They are all in green
to be easily found.

I did not include the Resilient part of FbF, as I think that Strength skills are really not for elves. I also made the changes mantioned in Alpha4 (aka pre-beta) thread.

If you have any comments or want some adjustments, say it soon as I want to send the list to SG by the end of next week.

BTW: If you want the list as a nice HTML (although for now without FbF and with combat movement), go to http://valdora.oddiloko.org/dokumenty/gangy/druchii.htm
This is what I submitted to friends so I could play elves in our upcoming campaign.

A quick comment on the maximum Stats of elves: There is T4 included. Shall this stay? Or are these maximum stats also counting for temporary effects, like the hartack bisquites?

If Frail but Fey is taken (which it probably should be as a good balancer, speaking from personal experience) then the Maximum Toughness Characteristic should be reduced to 3.

You are probably right, but maximum stats are common for all elves and so their changing remains territory of SG.

These cookies used to give you one round +1T.
On a roll of 1 after that you will suffer something.

I'll look it up.

LL and FBF take elves and make them unplayable in any real campaign mode, but everyone will cry that elves are too tough while bashing them into the ground repeatedly either way. No warband who has a hard time with henchman promotions or T3 max won't survive by mid campaign.

It seems to becomming a lost cause getting elves into Mordheim, because unless you make them so weak they won't win, noone except elf players will want them "official".

While I am not very successful with them, from Cenyu's reports it seems that they can be on par with others.
