Mordheim - Coming to a console near you

Post by Amboadine »

For those of you who haven't heard. There is a new game coming;

Mordheim: City of the Damned

http://gamesided.com/2014/03/26/focus-home-interactive-rogue-factor-show-mordheim-city-damned/

Looks like a solo and multiplayer game. Worth a look, certainly.

I'm really looking forward to this, actually! There are so many good games and movies coming out in the next year or two.

I've been waiting for Mordheim and Necromunda to be made into PC games since they were released! Out of the two I'd prefer Necromunda (it's the one I played the most) but I'll gladly, gladly take Mordheim. Focus Interactive did a decent conversion of Blood Bowl (apart from the awful AI) but BB2 comes out this year and the AI looks vastly improved and will be community-editable. If Mordheim has the same Focus team working on it... I'll be really happy.

Yeah, since they have officially removed both Mordheim and Necromunda from the list of supported board games, I'd really like Necromunda to also be made into a game. I really only played it a little bit, but I loved it like Mordheim. I was instantly attracted to the game.

Looks like it (Mordheim) will be true to the game, your warband members can be injured, or killed permanently. I think that was my favorite part, it really gave each model a life of its own that and you could/had to change the model up to represent a lost limb, lol!

I thought that it was coming out for PC, not console (which is good for me as I'm a PC gamer) though I haven't seen any confirmation on platform. Would be nice if they also did it for console as well. Above all else, I just hope that the game makes the transition.

Hopefully we can all get some games in together.

Indeed, I loved the way it gave conversions an extra purpose - as well as being great fun they became an important part of the game! Blood Bowl was the same, I remember once spending an afternoon cutting the ends off pins to glue on to my skaven who rolled a spike mutation (with hindsight a very bad and ultimately painful decision).

I tried the new Space Hulk but I'd forgotten how simplistic the game actually was, but I'd quite like to see Advanced Heroquest as a PC game. Iirc it had more going for it as far as rules. Talisman is good but single player is painful due to the AI taking a ridiculously long time to make decisions.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icPjQN1ehtw got me excited a couple of years ago but it looks like the project died :/

Ah, that's too bad. Looks like it could have been great! Unfortunately, GW has a habit of clamping down on IP even if it's all all but abandoned by them. The creators probably had a scare; a Cease and Desist letter was likely sent to them Too bad, would be amazing to play that game, even looking the way it was!

Here's to hoping Mordheim is a stellar design! :D

I reckon it's unlikely, but do people think this might cause a re-release of the tabletop game? I never got a shot at it first time round although I loved Necromunda. Not buying it on eBay though as the sets seem to sell for well over £100!

I bought the game on steam and played it for a few hours. Pretty good so far, still a few rough edges, but it is an alpha release and the developers are active on the forum responding to bugs and suggestions.
Mordheim is well rendered, lots of atmosphere. The war bands look great and the turn based mechanics work well. I am looking forward to more content as the releases get completed, but in the meantime I am really enjoying it!
Buy it now if you want input into development and expect and tolerate bugs, wait for the final release if you want a complete game.
There are some trolls on the forum whining about things not working...duh!
On the whole nearly everyone likes in though :)
I am voting for a dark elf war band in the future but happy with what ever.
