4th Edition Dark Elves Army by GeOrc
Hi all,
I am back. I just saw that my last posting was 10 years ago. Back in that time I was very active on this site. I have no idea if some of the old gang is still here and active. If so, I would be happy to meet you here and chat again about Dark Elves and Painting. What happen in the meantime? Make a long story short, a lot of moving, changing jobs and finally a wife and a child. What happend to my painting and modelling. I never stoped and I was always active in the hobby. My last Golden Demon I won in 2013. After that Games Workshop stopped the event for the while and I stopped the competition painting. What happend to my Dark Elves? I still have them... all of them. But in the last decade I painted Dark Elves very rarely. This changed three years ago, when my son was born. I went back to my roots and reworked through my first army. The 4th/5th Edition Dark Elves designed by Aly and Tris Morrison and Colin Dixon.
Here an army shot from the beginning of the year
and from my latest addition to the army, my finished Cold One Knights
When starting this project I resurrected my old blog and started to document my progress. If you like my work and if you want to learn more about my stuff, follow this link
https://georcs-workbench.blogspot.com/
I hope you like my work and I would be happy to read your feedback in the comments.
If there is interest I would enjoy to post some progress here as well.
Kind Regards,
GeOrc

Hi GeOrc,
Nice to see you here.
I'm not from the old gang, as I only recently joined the forum. However I had already stumbled upon your blog and was very impressed with what you managed to do with the old figures. I learned a lot studying them and trying to figure out how you got those results.
When I first started my Dark Elves army when I was 14 years old and it was during 4th/5th edition as well. Fond memories.

Old gang reporting here.
Remember well your paintings, each new one was a treat.
Pretty sure you won a Raging Heroes award as well.
Missed you when you left.
Happy to see you're doing fine with a family developing.

@Bobba Looba
Thanks for your kind Feedback! I am glad my work inspired you and that you enjoy my 4th/5th edition Army project. I hope that other join the nostalgia trip here.
@Calisson,
Good to see you still active here. A shame that the traffic of this old board is so low. I checked here for the last days but it feels like being cast away on a lonely island.
I would love to see here some more people from the old gang.
@all,
Let’s post some updates here and see if some bait will catch anything.
Here my latest work. A conversion for my battle standard bearer and my progress painting it:
I hope you like it. Let me know what you think in the comments.
Kind Regards,

@Lazarus,
Thanks a lot for visiting here and your kind feedback!
I will try to post my progress continuously here.
In this sense I am able to show my progress from today
Here the finished BSB Cold One:
And the first brush strokes on the rider.
Painting this hero is a lot of fun. Hopefully, I will have some more spare time on the weekend to get some more progress.
I hope you like it.
Let me know what you think and leave a comment!

Its great to see photos of these old minis again, your work really inspired me in the early days of P&M, some of those scratch built models you have made are truly epic! I came across your insta feed the other day and was looking through your rare models from 4th fantastic work.
Have you got anything new you could post up for some old veterans on DNet?

Beautiful work Georc!
As you mention the small pictures - I've doubled the attachment size and image size now. I'm not sure if that will be enough. If you find yourself still limited, I can increase it further. The old values were getting outdated

I am more than happy to read from you, mate! I tried to contact you via FB but your profile did not allow that. Maybe we find a way to chat again. Would be happy to hear from you.
All the best.

Beautiful work as always! Just one question, do you ever clear coat your minis? If so, what do you use?

@Lazarus,
thanks a lot! I am glad you like them!
Because of vanish, no I don´t use one, because it always comes with a slight shiny effect. If I wanted the latter explicitely I add some Vallejo Matt Vanish into my last highlight. However, If I would really need one I would use Vallejo Matt Vanish also for protection of miniatures. Use many thin layers rather than a thick one.
I hope this helps?!
