Dark Elf Back Catalogue

Post by Vogon »

Greetings

Ok this idea is shamelessly nicked from Bugmans but never mind.

How about a photographic back catalogue of all DE miniatures ever sold by GW. This would include the miniatures produced by Citadel, Marauder, Iron Claw and Chronicle.

The Bugmans site at the moment borrows heavily from The Stuff of Legends website but the plan is to produce their own back catalogue of painted miniatures, with the painting done by a multi Golden Daemon winner who collects dwarves.

I know the guy in question and he has every Dwarf miniature GW have ever done mostly painted. He can field in excess of 7000pts of fully painted metal miniatures with no duplication at all.

I don't know if this is do-able of if such a collection exists for Dark Elves but it could be a fantastic idea.

Any volunteers?

Have fun

The work for this is already 90% done by SOL (Stuff Of Legends), although it requires some hunting around between categories (C-series, Marauder, Citadel 1991 Catalogue V2).

Additional work is also being done over at CCM (Collecting Citadel Miniatures) to fill in holes that SOL is not covering.

It takes an awful lot of bandwidth to host that many pictures.
Is that something that is practical for Druchii.net?

As it happens, I have the figures (every Citadel/Marauder Dark Elf ever made), with the exception of one or two of the most rare unreleased pieces, but they're not all painted.

FYI there are no Chronicle or Iron Claw Dark Elves.

I'd be interested in seeing a pic of the full collection some time. I have a fair few myself but nothing like tha full collection.

I've no idea if it's a practical thing to do. I was just repeating what seems a good idea.

The benefit would be all the DE minis in one place.

Cheers

I don't think Druchii.net could provide such a big database of images. However, we could host a link perhaps (if Kitrik wants so).

I assume that you folks can find the previous generation of 4th/5th edition Dark Elf figures easily enough, either on the GW Online store sites or elsewhere.

My appologies I've been a bit lazy on responding on this thread. Heldrak, Many thanks for your work putting all those links together.

By 'eck there are a lot out there my collection which I thought was quite good now seems pitiful, though I do have the Dragon Horse and rider which I'm planning on painting up and using as my General.

Cheers

I based one of mine up for an Anointed on a Steed Of Slaanesh, but I haven't got around to painting it yet. Do you have the version on foot as well? The old C13 General/DE Hero figure makes a great WYSIWYG figure for a character with the Deathmask because he's got a cool faceplate tipped back on his head...

Unfortunately not any more, it went missing somewhere one house move. I really must get around to replacing it one day.

The Deathmask possibility had not escaped me either though I think mine will count as riding a Cold One when it finally gets painted.

Cheers

Rather dim pictures of the very rare indeed unreleased Malekith On Foot figure seen here (no, it's not a conversion!):

http://homepage.mac.com/mredden/Warhamm ... lbum5.html

Photo of Aldethar Brain-Splitter (with mace-and-chain) seen here:

http://www.solegends.com/citfly/citfly8 ... 08r-01.htm

Aldethar was inexplicably dropped from the range prior to the publication of the 1991 Citadel Catalogue.

MODS: Can we move this sticky thread over to Painting & Modelling? I think that it's rather lost here in Suggestions...

I wish it was possible to get the unreleased Dark Elf Sorceresses by Ali Morrison. they would make great additions to my army, I wonder if they ever show up on Ebay.

Is this the Ali Morrison Maruader sorrceresses on coldone pictured above? If so I have one off ebay and she is totally my favorite figure in my entire vast collection. She painted up beautifully. If this is the figure in question I'm ttally chuffed to have an unreleased mini graceing my shelves.

Most of my army is made up of the old marauder range and yep they are so cool. A total delight to paint.

Darktremere is refering to the unreleased Aly Morrison Dark Elf Sorceresses on foot seen here:

You are refering to the Marauder MM74 mounted Dark Elf Sorceress (also sculpted by Aly Morrison) seen here:

http://www.collecting-citadel-miniature ... oes_-_MM74

Although now OP, the mounted Sorceress is not an unreleased model, and they do show up on eBay from time to time.

Well, I bought both of them on eBay, so the short answer is yes. However, that was the only time they have appeared on eBay to date (the version with the fur cloak has appeared on eBay twice and I bought it both times).

eBay can be a good source for unreleased figures, but the prices can be very high (the unreleased Malekith On Foot figure sculpted by Chris Fitzpatrick sold for over $1,200.00 USD the only time it ever appeared on eBay, for example).

Well, I guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

One of the Ebay stores has an unreleased Witch Elf by Chris right now and they are asking for around $120 and I saw how much your unreleased Sorcerer went for, so I guess I start saving now and if they Sorceresses ever show up, hopefully I'll have enough.

Ahhh, nice figure but very 4th/5th eddition I don't collect seriously anything past 3rd eddition. Saves me a few quid I guess.

Looking on the wiki site I may be able to help with some of the missing marauder sea elves I'll have a good look through though they may be painted and based by now meaning I may not be able to tell the exact number!

If you're looking for 3rd edition models, you can send me a pm, I usually have some extra on hand.

If you have trouble getting a log-in for the CCM Wiki site you can send me the pics and I can upload them for you. It would be great to be able to finally fill in the glaring holes in the Marauder Sea Elf line.

Ask, and ye shall receive (eventually... ):

Remember that these are from back in the days when there were no dedicated Command figures for specialized infantry units, so no Corsair Champions, Musicians, or Standard Bearers. Only the generic Comand figures seen here:

I'm working on adding all of the 4th/5th edition Dark Elf figures as we speak...
