What a characterful and fitting conversion! Good job, Maerius, can't wait to see this miniature painted.

What parts did you use? The RBT crewman body, a Waywatcher head, Malus Darkblad SDC... where's the tome from?

I'm tempted to copy this idea to create a nice-looking leader for my Druchii Mordheim warband.

Looks great, can't wait to see more.

As Cenyu said, what tome is it?

Wow that is a great male sorcerer! Can't wait to see it finished... I based mine on one of the beastmaster models although I like yours much better! Cheers, One-Eye
He is both tactically minded and a savage fighter. He is feared throughout the Drakwald and rightly so, known by many names he is best known as One-Eye.

That's looking fabulous! I'm really looking forward to the end product. Are you writting some fluff behind this guy? It's a great idea, and a great model too- two thumbs up! :)

The head is actually from the Sorcerer of Chaos model. The Tome (book) is another great piece from the Mordheim Accessories Sprue (same place I got my General's Lantern). I love that sprue - there is lots of great stuff in it.

I haven't finished the fluff on him yet, but I do plan to.

Very nice indead.. but I prefer my sorcerers female :P
And.. don't want to complain. But that RBT crewie that you converted it from carries a courass ( armour ). Sorcerers don't.
Losing against High Elves makes me hate the even more, and so: I should get more rerolls :) :) :)

I assume you meant the Cuirass (breastplate). It shouldn't be a big deal for me to file down the edges of it so it looks like normal clothing. I used green stuff to smooth over the chainmail below that. I will just file and blend it all together. Problem solved, yes?

A sorcerer also can't have an SDC, but does that matter? Considering everyone knows it's a sorcerer and that sorcerers can't wear armour, I doubt anyone will pull WYSIWYG on that one.

But, yeah, perfectly executed, and what I imagined a renegade sorcerer would look like, minus the SDC. Nice.

For a rules set that allows you to use that model, check out my topic in the Ideas Forum.

Great work on converting this one, though I think the book hangs there a bit awkwardly.

Lovely work. and, if you fancied a change, that model would function just as well as an assassin IMO. Looks sinister, and i love the way it is posed to hold it's weapon in that way. Brilliant. Well done.

Good work very nice conversion.
I use the same model for my Furion conversion. I just left the cuirass and altered it a little with putty so that it looks more like ceremonial armour.
Any chance that we can get pictures of the progress and the painted mini?

I'm in the midst of painting my general at the moment (I will send some updated pics for him soon), then I am tackling this guy's paint job. This one should be easier - I am trying to figure out the object source lighting for the general's lantern at the moment. Rest is painted.

A neutral shade of black. wrote:A sorcerer also can't have an SDC, but does that matter? Considering everyone knows it's a sorcerer and that sorcerers can't wear armour, I doubt anyone will pull WYSIWYG on that one.

It's the perfectly tasty Mordheim model.

Noble + Tome of Magic + Warrior Wizard + SDC + Sword + Dagger + Elf Cloak...

Of course this would eat up quite some gold crowns. :-D

FINISHED!

Post by Maerius »

My Renegade is finished.
I am having some weird issues with my camera though - now when I take pics of my miniatures indoors under my painting lamp (with a Reveal® light bulb) everything comes out skewed toward red. Even when I take them and doctor them up with Photoshop, they still look bad. These outdoor shots look decent though, so here you go (I still think he looks better in real life than these pics):

imo cameras rarely do models justice, don't worry about it. I'm really digging the way this thing turned out. The basing is superb as is the way you painted his trinkets and clothes. I know where you got the tome, but where did you get the scroll? I can't think of where it might come from off the top of my head.

Fingol, that model (RBT commander) holds it naturally - one of the reasons I picked it (along with the fact that he has part of his face covered with a scarf). Must be some kind of tactical maps or orders of some sort when used for his original purpose.

Next up is......nothing exciting really.

Now I have alot of regular troops to get painted up - Dark Riders, Corsairs, Warriors, COK's (CO's are done - just the knights now) and Shades. No conversions, but happy to share the pics if you guys are interested....

I do have another renegade coversion to do, based on one of the assassin models. I'd like to get more of my main army painted at the moment though.

Ooh, I must say that the sorceror looks really cool with that paint job. Nice choice of colors while keeping it nice and dark!

lovely :)
realy nice color scheme with dark cold blue look :)
Nice and Easy might not always do the trick, but at least it doesn't end up splattered against some wall.
