A Noble Thread

Post by Blackrainey »

Ok so some of you might spend hours going through threads about "Nobles" trying to find the perfect one to use in your battle games. Well now there is an easier way...

This thread is the place to ask modeling questions and post pics off your painted and unpainted nobles.

So for all you people that would like to inspire newcomers into creating their own nobles, or highbornes, feel free to post links to your master pieces.

Have fun with this post and I hope it supplies both newcomers and expert druchii to get imaginative.

Do it for the DARK LORD

These are a few of my favourite Noble models from Druchii.net

http://www.druchii.net/album_page.php?pic_id=410

^ I like this one because it has a heroic aura but still looks like a warrior with a bit flasher armour, I think this noble is quite kool. COK lance is an awesome touch.

http://www.druchii.net/album_page.php?pic_id=3263

^ This is soulreaper's amazing noble, I LOVE this model as It has one of the most dramatic postures I ever seen and it actually looks realistic! 10/10 for this one.

http://www.druchii.net/album_page.php?pic_id=1075

^ Wow, when I first saw this model i was so fasinated by it I made it my background and sent it to my felow warhammer mates (dwarf,Chaos and high elves) and well they have all recently emailed me back pictures of generals of their own army that this pic had inspired them to make.

since my noble's in there i just have to say thanks for the 10 rating there ^^
I should also tell you that I've redone that sword of his... its all green and stuff now ;P so you might wanna update to the newer pic. ^^ (unless you like the old one better of course)

on a side note.. the sword positioning isn't actually the way i wanted it to be.. I wanted him to have it positioned upwards. like he's about to swing with it. but since the arm would have broken horrible if i had tried bending it like that.. I decided this would be better. ;)

I should really make his shield soon <.<
although the substitute one doesn't look bad either >.>

thank you :)

Head from BM on manti
Body from warrior sprue
left arm from warrior sprue
right arm from mengil manhide
sword from high elf dragon prince
legs from Drazharr, master of blades (dark eldar special character)
and the cloak is based off of one of the new glade rider cloaks. but the scales are made out of green stuff.
and of course there's some green stuff work a little here and there... ;)

oh.. and the gem on his neck is from some high elf bit.. i just took the gem of.. ^^ binds the cloak together and can act as the HoS if i want it to ;)

(there are more pics of him in my pic thread if anyones curious. the link is in my sig.)

I have found an easy conversion for a noble.

Black Guard champion (one without the helmet), I took his sword, cut off his right hand (shortening the handle) en bent his left arm until it fits right next to his side. Then as a left arm I used the warrior arm that normaly goes with the crossbow, with the fingers separate en made them rest on the dagger on his belt.

Don't have pics yet, he's still WIP for a painting contest, though I might add some WIP pictures if you'd like to see it for yourself ;)

Easy yet effective! (fits nicely in a chariot too!)
On my signal...unleash Hell.

A groovy new noble

This is a wicked noble I found while looking through the album. This is the sort of unique character I'm looking to make (obviously it's gonna be different) I am interested to know what parts Ragian Cain used for this model.

I think the base model for the "A groovy new noble" is the special extra Battle Standard Bearer from one Darkelf deal by GW. They did this with all armies, I think. The sword and shield look like from the plastic sprue and the banner is cut off. That might be the answer, why the shieldarm has this very psition.

I'm planning on building a Highborn/Beastmaster on Manticore starting tomorrow, hopefully. The parts I plan on using so far...

Manticore (Duh...:))
Slaanesh Lord Torso
Slaanesh Lord Left and Right legs
Dark Eldar Warrior Helmet (Either that or the stock BM one, I'll see how it works out. As much as I love the one that comes with the Lord, I don't think it is DE enough).
Now... I'm trying to decide between the Slaaneshi Lord's Halberd, the Executioner Champions Draich, or a Cold One Knight's Lance for his weapon. I might just go all out and set up a pin system so I can switch em out... except the Draich is Left handed, and the other weapons are right handed... so, yeah, still working that bit out, we'll see when I start tomorrow.

Umm, so yeah, these are bits and pieces taken from my long browsing of the Album and the Online Store. I plan on giving the Beastmaster either Armor of Darkness or Armor of Blood, so thats why I can use him as either.

Any thoughts?

especially like azure's noble, and MDK's peg noble. One modelling trick is to use a DEW sword arm on an Exec.

Here's a few shots of my Noble/Highborn on a cold one:

http://www.ordofanaticus.com/albums/album16/Aitorback.jpg
http://www.ordofanaticus.com/albums/album16/Aitorleft.jpg

I pretty much copied the gal from the Studio's conversion, except I sculpted the lower cloak so it would fit better and used an old cold one instead of a plastic cow one.
That's silly! Playin with little statues, pretendin' they're fightin'! Why not just round up a bunch of real goblins and lettem' whack it out?

Maybe it should go in this tread..

I went trough my bitbox yesterday and found a mantle from the new chaos warriors sprue. It would be so cool whit a big strong Noble char on the table, but should Dark Elfs be limited to be small and weak.
Anyway, I'm thinking about converting a Noble whit a big Chaos mantle. Would it just look silly or awesome?

Did them last year for my DE. The second pic has dodgy lighting though. Cheers, One-Eye

The cheapest way would probably be to buy a dark rider herald and give him a shield (unless you don´t want him to have a shield, in which case you should maybe give him a different sword), as you won´t want to use heralds in your dark rider units anyway.

If you have some spare parts, the cheapest way would most likely be to convert him from spearelf torso and arms, silver helm or glade rider legs, and a few bits and pieces for weapons and equipment. But buying a box of silver helms or glade riders just for this conversion would be too expensive. You might want to think about converting your DR from glade riders anyway, though, so in that case it would make sense to just convert your noble from that box´s contents, too, combined with a few druchii warrior bits.
It´s nice to be important, but it´s more important to be nice.

This is my noble, converted from Malus Darkblade.

I wanted to change the face, so I gace him a beard. As elves generally don't have beards, he became Kallath Halfman, accepted as a low ranking noble due to his cruelty and spite.

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l243/ ... llath1.jpg

The conversion was relatively simple:

1. Beard sculpted out of GS - totally changes the shape of his face.
2. Left arm cut away from shoulder peice and repositioned
3. Head removed from left arm, extra weapon (taken from spare COK arm) pinned through the hand.
4. Cloak cut up the middle and splayed out to give a sense of movement - also to fit over the old Cold One seat.

Obviously, this is just TT quality painting.

Is it even allowed to put pics like that?.. And personally I think that a Dark Elf would never accept a halfbreed as anything other that a "slave".

The painting and modelling was nice tho. Would have looked nicer if he had two swords that looked alike.
