well, i took the plunge and bought my first models today. a box of DE warriors. im going to paint them up as 6 RXB and 10 SE. this is so that i have some fire power when i play warhammer skirmish with them. any way here is my first model, i know the shields not done but that will be done tommorow.

Neither of those images work - one is a link that leads to nowhere in particular, and the other is a thumbnail that doesn't lead to a picture. You might want to sort that out.

I'dd suggest you use "photobuckt.com"
Much more user friendly. Just upload and copy the img link in here.

that seems to work, but now the pics are huge. i know there are still mold lines but its the test model, and the size of the pic seems to pic up every single fault.

You're off to a fair start. You should really clean off those mold lines though. Some of the painting looks a bit uneven but your details show up well.

i have to admit that the pictures aren't very flattering, he does look better in real life. especially the armour which looks terible in the photos.

any way here are some more piccys of him, this time with a shield.

Give me some extreme high lights (on edge of shield, on the cloth, and maybe even scabbard if you want to go crazy... but shield definitely) and i think these would look great as a core troop :D very nice!

Nope, misspelled :P ... you spell it doesn't ;)

As to the models - They look quite nice, but I don't like the brown (is it bubonic?) on the spears a lot - I'd go for brown spears and light brown leather/cloth on the spears.
The metal needs some contrast - try inking the metal parts with a 1:3:1 mix of water/black ink/blue ink once or twice. That's what I did when I still painted my armor with metal colors. I quite liked the result.
The turquoise and the skin need some highlighting too if you ask me.

For the rest - keep it coming :D I think you're well on your way of creating a characterful army.

HUZZAH!
When I think of something witty, I shall put it here.

i like the teal, its not my taste and i know that I cant pull it off, but you did good on it

actually the paint job reminds me of how i paint my models

but yeah maybe some extreme highlights would do good but honestly the warriors are hard to make look crazy good because theres just not enough on them to give a lot of variation. the whole model is basically the armour and the robe underneath

i realise the armour is inked, maybe i watered then down a bit to much. also im finding high lighting hard as i don't have a small brush, i should be buying one today or tommorow. the cloth is vermin brown highlighted by iyaden (spelling) sunset. i'll try the brown spears, but i want to keep them dark as teal is quite a bright colour so everything else, except skin, im trying to keep fairly dark.

The skin looks good. How do you do it? I like it but I agree about the cloth on the spears. A color which makes it look weird. Btw what do you use on the shoes? You don't always need to do shoes but it looks good.

shoes, and anything else red are a red gore wash (watery red gore). flesh is Iyaden sunset, dwarf flesh, elf flesh, white and elf felsh mix. and to add definition i do a dwarf flesh wash.
