[PLOG] Azoth´s diabolical forge
Behind this odd name, hides my new PLOG of random projects.... until I find something specific to dedicate my efforts...
I know these are no DE despite I think may be an insteresting thread...
The beginning, a IMPETUS plaque..12 spartans from xyston.
I´ll paint miniatures and shields/spears aside. After painting I´ll glue them to make easier my work
White primer and vallejo colours.
I´ll apply a basecoat, dip and highlights, this will be a reference unit for further painting
hope you like it

some more things...
Half painted
shields and spears
Just basecoated
After this, they will be dipped, highlighted and I will addd some transfers to the shield (look nicer than a quick painted lambda)...
@Gnosis: Thanks
@Layne: they are 15mm lead Spartans from xyston, well really they are greek from xyston. the spartans but the commmad group looked a bit nasty with the "open"helmet...I chose other miniatures to use as spartans, with the closed helmet

I bought transfers for shields in: http://www.littlebigmenstudios.com/catalog/
I recommend it, superb sellers... I bought 2 hellenic drawings transfers and one with lambdas
here they are...
to set them up, first we cut the one we want...
cut more adjusting to the edges of the drawing...
the transfer has 2 sides, a white one (paper) and a clear one. This one is a plastic film which protects the sticky side and we need to remove in order to stick the transfer to the shield...
We can remove it manually or due to its size use adhesive tape in the clear side to remove the protective film once we remove the adhesive tape, leaving the sticky side free
We remove the tape carefully and it takes the protective plastic with it.
We aplpy the transfer to the shield on the sticky side, it´s very important to adjust it perfectly on the shield, centering it.
Once the transfer is weel fitted I apply a bit of water with a brush, we want to moisten the white paper, not to soak it.... While damping it I press a bit to adjust the transfer to the shape of the shield.
I use a rubber pen to make a better adjustment of the transfer to the shield, pushing a bit with the rubber point
I can use this rubber pen to adjust the transfer even when I´ve retired the paper layer, applying pression directly to the transfer...
Last photo, transfer applied... you can se the paper layer left

Unfortunately these minis dont exist..probably they´d look nicer than these clothed ones...and They´ll take less time to paint for sure
Hey, a friend of mine has naked spartans.. I shall ask him the company.
Nice work with transfers, it would be a nightmare a free-hand with 15mm

plaque finished, I didn´t make any photo of the basing process but it was really easy:
1) Used a cheap putty to make some textures in the base cobering the gaps between mini and base
2) ad texture with glue + sand
3) paint the sand with a darker colour in order to point out the minis
4) glue some grass
5) painted the edge of the base
Applied the matt varnish to the transfers and when all was dry applied matt varnish in spray (vallejo)
a close up.more or less

A new mini project, 2 minis a friend of mine give me to paint quite a few years ago... but ..I´m so lazy and the minis so dull that never started
I think is a good way to remmeber how to paint miniatures without dipping, so I will make a mini diorama and will paint them without dipping (i swear )
these are the minis , a kind of Frankenstein monster and Igor
I bought a wood base for them...
I cover the borders with tape and will apply a layer of putty (the same I used for my elves) to create some flagstones in the floor
apply the layer of putty, smooth it with the rolling pin
Remove the excess from the edges with a cutter
and... at this moment my camera ran out of batteries...
Before it get dry, marked some lines in the putty to simulate the flagstones (I wanted something more detailed than the ones did for my elves) and once it is totally dry I´ll carve the putty for making a good flagstone floor
Please, any comment about painting woill be appreciated... it has been a loooong time since I painted something without dipping and applying a more careful tecnique

I wasn´t dead only partying
next project..Space wolves!!!..but on my way, maybe fluff purists will die if they see my SW, so I´ll make conversions and painting aside "official SW standar"
1st sketch, a blood claw, they are the young bloods so they will look fierce and savages, all without beard, CaC wepon and pistol.
In this 1st version only have used a shoulder pad, does he look fine to you?
2nd version, big shoulder pad for the rear arm and a mini shoulder pad for the front one
3rd, 2 shoulderpad...the worst of them IMO the shoulder pad hides the arm
C&C will be appreciated, thanks in advance

On blood claw 3 you need to get rid of the Khorne symbole on the belt.overall looks good.
Never underestimate the power of sheer bloody minded spite.

has been a long time... but I´ve overcome mi addiction to Champions o line and use some of my time for modelling again...
A nre rough sketch for my blood claw with flamer...
I wanted to give him (as the rest of the army) a medieval and brutal look, so I added him this odd torch/fire source from the empire magician sprue...
Probably once I set him up, I magnetize the flamer arm to make it interchangeable with any other special weapon for the unit..
Hope you like it (Remember he is an sketch, moulds lines, etc will be removed once he´s assembled)

Great work on the poses. I really can`t stand the hair of the SW, but I guess that`s a matter of taste. Make sure the flames and top-knot on the last marine are at the same angle. I think he would look extra cool if you put a short piece of rod up from the base, so it looks like he just broke the brazier off its stand.

Black tree design have naked Spartans, and it takes about 45 minutes with pens to freehand a shield like that, according to a guy with an army of them.
