Winter is coming. Bassman goes vintage!

Post by Bassman76 »

After many years I should come back and claim what is rightfully mine!
Too many plastic executioners in this forum, but I claim to be one of the first to have this idea five years ago: http://www.druchii.net/viewtopic.php?t= ... +bassman76

Believe it or not, for many reasons, it took five years to paint them.
I know it's so lame, but I fell in love with Chaos Dwarfs http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showt ... p?tid=3392
having almost complete that project now I'm back to my first love: Dark Elves!

Stop wasting time and let pictures speak for me:

Beautifully converted and painted! Really like your painting style, and the basing looks simple but very effective. The red belts add a nice splash of colour, as does the banner. Nice work!
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be the One.
Born to bear and bring to all the details of our ending,
To write it down for all the world to see...

But I forgot my pen...

I waited so long! You make me want to work on old Dark Elf projects too.

Congrats on finishing, I had lost all hope.

Thank you, it's nice to be back to my first love!

For whom is interested in my basing this is a picture of the bases without miniatures.
I sculpted a piece of those insulating panels you place on walls. It was a leftover from some job at home.

Image

It was a while I wanted to try a winter theme and watching Games of thrones gave me the final push :)
Snow is made with soda carbonate :)

Lord Tsunami: well, they actually wear heavy armor so I wanted them bulkier :) actually are very old sculpts, some of my first attempts at sculpting. Today they would be slender. Let's see what's going on with rest of the army ;)

Laybe: ehhehe I lost hope as well ;) Please go back to your dark elves! I used to love them. My Chaos Dwarfs say hello to your sorceress ;)

I have been working on Dark Elves, believe it or not... Is there really a rest of your army? I thought you only had Executioners.

thank you.

Here more Darkies, this time crossbowmen.
These are miniatures I painted 7-8 years ago. I refreshed their paintjob, remade basing and added command and banner.

More recruits for my winter incursion army.
This Hag Queen/sorceress is calling new fresh recruits for my crossbow regiment.
Now I have 20 of them, good for two 10 elves regiments or a big 20 one.
Image

Here you can see the lady in her beauty. I never liked her staff and I want to use her as an Hag Queen. So let get rid of her stuff and I gave her a nice pole weapon I scratch built.
Image

I had this miniature for ages (10 years?) and I am really happy to have her painted. I think she is a gorgeous model (but the staff). Hope I gave her a proper paint job.

i really like that purple on the robes. i think you overdid it a bit with the halberd thingy though. i had a sorceress like that where i replaced the staff with a spear before, but this is a bit too large for my taste. but as they say, there is no kill like overkill :D

Thank you.

Lord Tsunami: this time I do agree with you. The halberd is a little too large for my taste.
I'm tempted to get rid of it and redo. Maybe in next future.

The paint job on her is proper though. You could perhaps replace the blade with a plastic corsair blade.
