treeapple's dark elves blog

Post by treeapple »

Hello guys,

though I'm a new user to this forum I've been a "silent reader" of this website for many years. Now I registered to post the link to my new wordpress-dark elves blog.

I've been playing dark elves for many years and I take the release of the new book as an occasion to start a blog about my druchii including tactical analyses, battle reports, painting stuff and most important - many many pics!

Hope you enjoy my blog and have fun:

P.S. My blog is just at the beginning. I want to improve the design and structure of the site permanently. If you have any suggestions to improve it feel free to leave a comment here or at my blog!

I really like both the blog and all the models, great job and I look forward to seeing more. :)
My painting blog

Even without Games Workshop, we will endure. Armies of the Unsupported Age, the models are out there.

Well, that is a sublime talent :)

Beautiful painting - wish you'd showed us sooner!

I particularly like the Carnosaur Chariots - it is something I was thinking of doing myself

Looking forward to reading and seeing more...

Thank you. :) Indeed. When I first saw bathtime for bubbles I knew I needed this mini. Love it.
(Besides I'm searching for the ice witches of wargods of hyperborea... my german online shop took them out of their program. Are they still in production?)

I just pubished a new article. http://forceofthenorth.wordpress.com/

And this time, I need your help: I've several ideas for conversions in my mind (for the new models). Because of the different sculping styles of the old and the new minis I will need "my own" versions for many of the new units. Especially for the warlocks. Any ideas?

Inspiring blog, I really like the fact that you use totally different cold ones models and those (cold one) chariots are awesome! Your painting style is also different, but amazing. Your cold one knights and the BSB on the pegasus are simply the best

I have to admit that I don't like the crossbowmen and spearm, in comparison to the rest they a little mwah.

Thanks for the comments! :)

@Lord Drakon: You're right. I think myself that the Spears and xbows are the weakest point of the army concerning the painting... The old plastic kit can't really compete against the metal minis. And I hadn't any really inspiring ideas to convert and paint them (honestly these guys had to be painted for a tournament, so I needed them quick enough). Maybe I will repaint them one day or replace them with other minis (but I don't like the new warrior plastic kits as well).

I've been subscribed to your blog via RSS for a few weeks now, treeapple. I'm greatly enjoying your updates! And that's one sexy dragon.

PS - a fellow bass player! What kind of rig have you got? My blue Warwick Corvette Rockbass has been a loyal friend for years...

Thanks. :)

Ah, a bass fellow... I play a 5-string warwick rock bass corvette in "wood-look":

It's funny that we play almost the same bass guitar. ;)

@all: new content: master on dark horse, painted for the same tournament as the warlocks in Nov., for the next combat-characters on dark steed I want to use the horses from the wood elves wild hunt.

Wow - what a coincidence! I kind of assume that most people just play P-basses

Yes, for the price I thought the tonal range on the Corvette was just awesome. Nice call on the 5 string though. Something I always wanted, but never got around to buying one. Maybe if I get to playing more seriously again in the future I'll consider it. But... that's money that could go towards miniatures...

I'm loving this Army. It looks great.

What model did you use for the death had bathing in the cauldron of blood?

Thank you.

The bathing hag is from Crocodile Games.

The sculptor is Chris Fitzpatrick. The same guy who made all the 6th Edition Dark Elves for GW. So it fits perfectly.
