Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE
Here are my "before" pics on my assassin. He was a paint strip/repaint, which is why you might be able to detect a hint of fleshtone under the white primer. I also am noticing with these pics that the primer is a bit thick. Hopefully that doesn't affect the final outcome too badly. I guess we'll see.

I have finally managed to put the champion together. I hate thick metal bases!
Now I just have to hope I manage to find enough time to paint him, finishing even one model during the month would feel great.

Agreed! Very sharp looking conversion...pun not intended. I love all the attention this challenge is getting!

The model is from Darksword, it's the male knight with either sword or axe. The sword wasn't big enough for him to fit between out Incubi-based executioners and the axe just didn't fit well enough for my taste, so I ended up using a weapon from the new wood elves. The style should be similar enough.

I love Dark Sword minis. Big fan of their stuff.
And I have no doubt you'll make it look great too.

Easiest way is to make a photobucket account. Free and easy. Then you can upload photos to here, and then link them directly here.

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE
There is a 'how to guide' on uploading photos, although it is not obvious from the thread title;

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE
Ooooh, this is just my thing! Cheers for making this a thing! Love it!
So.. upon discovering this so late I'll throw in what I was already working on.
It's Mr. Ungrim Unpainted, Slayer King!
In the picture I'm considering how to create his enormous Axe of Dargo, as described in the books. He's still missing the mohawk and various green stuff in this picture.
Can't wait to see more of you guys' work. Looking forward for next months challenge.

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE
That's looking sharp, Booah! I love that model, well done. How did you highlight the base?

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE
Thanks Malys, probably wouldnt have painted it at all if it wasnt for this challenge. The base is simply caliban green with progressive drybrushes lighted with white scar and a white scar final drybrush, nice and easy to do but I think quite effective, my entire display board was done like this for armies on parade last year.

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE
The champion of my Dread Legionnaires is also done. I used the awesome tutorial from Naggaroth here in the forum. As I started Warhammer only 9 months ago, my painting skills are still developing, but I would be especially interested in your feedback and any hints or suggestions for improvement (I already know, I need a real camera ;-) ):

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE
Not sure a new camera, possibly just better lighting for it.
Immediate advice would be to ensure you do some basing, it really does finish off the model nicely.

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE
Looks good to me!
Indeed lighting would help. Daylight or a lamp with ~4000 kelvin in colour temperature. Your average lightbulb is a warm 2700 kelvin, giving a bit much yellow to the miniatures.
For someone this new in painting, I think you nailed it. Highlights and all!

Thank you for the kind feedback.
Regarding basing: Yes, this is something I need to start doing. For the moment however I will continue painting some more and then do basing for all the miniatures I painted so far in one giant go.
Photo: I think I'll do a photo on my balcony with daylight, I hope to achieve a better result there.

Try also placing it on some white paper.
