Gets Hot!: What is a normal armor save?

If your Space Marine with 3+ save power armor suffers a gets hot! from a plasma weapon with a 2 AP.. does "normal armor save" mean 3+ save, or no save because 2AP defeats 3+ save?

normal armour save means the AP isn't considered.

Ah many thanks. I thought it was compltely obvious that you'd "normally" consider AP on an armor save.

Now I understand how the Salamanders with their affinity for fire and plasma haven't all killed themselves off!
