The second of my two assassin polls.
So what do you usually take them with? I'll use the manbane/web of shadows one, coz rune of khaine is unflfufy for me...

Instead of Manbane, I've considered taking Rune of Khaine and Dark Venom just to be a highly effective RnF killer.........
But that is because that's all I view the assasin as good for.

im surprised more people don't give him killing blow and, or without, dark venom and cry of war

Killing blow is a huge gamble..... Often you have less than a 50% chance of instantly killing the enemy general........
Manbane is nearly always effective against generals, and Rune of Khaine is just plain good....

I know, thats why i use the 2 of them,
5 attacks that are always 1 more strength than theirs=death

Well, that's why the enemy general challenges effectively making it a 1 on 1 combat in both ways!

Amulet of Protection? You mean talisman? Isn't that kind of a waste? It's pretty easy to fail a 6+ ward save, so I doubt it's really useful...

6+ ward doesnt really help anyone i agree... why waste the points? the idea with the assassin is you want him to have no-one left when he's done, so...

Yep, all points spent on an Assassin should improve his hitting power!
Anything else is wasted!

Hey ya!
anyone try arming the assassin with blade of ruin and use him to kill knights of other high armour save stuff?
i haven't tried this yet but i was wondering if it would work, since my main oppenent always takes at LEAST two units of 8-10 strong knights wih grandmaster.

Not bad, but with only 3 Attacks, he can be dead quickly without dealing much damage!

Nope, 3 only. They should have 4, really, being such exalted fighters, but that would be a little much, I suppose.

lol - it should just be 125 pts with 2 hand weaps - who in their right mind doesnt take it!!!
but still, your taking a big gamble - that you can take out 3 knights that are in btb with 4 attacks...

Anyone ever tried putting an assasin in a unit of Dark Riders with a Deathmask? I've considered trying it before and will as soon as I can. I just see a lot of pleasure in jumping out from a unit the enemy shouldn't have to worry about to much and scaring the ba-jesus out of them with terror.

Dark venom, touch of death and cry of war!
That gives me poisoned attacks, possibly killing blow and possibly-1 WS to a whole unit.
Thats my assasin.
In a just cause, there are no failures!

Very nice, so every 6 you roll on your tohit roll takes away one die to use for Killing Blow! Not the best combo, I'm inclined to say!
Cry of War is only good against WS 5 units, but there are quite a few of those, so why not!

um, if you get a 6 to hit with that combo, you can still roll those seperately to wound, just for the sake of killing blow... makes it look a bit better doesnt it
