Beginning Speciality List
You may choose one of the below for one member of your squad when you are creating them. Your Sergeant may not have a speciality. (Unless it applies to the whole squad)

Sniper : Swaps standard Lasgun with a Long Las Standard Guard Sniper rifle. Uses Hot shot rounds, perfect for taking heads off.

Demolition
: Carries six tube charges into mission zone. The Demolitionist, knows how to use these effectively, from setting traps, to taking out walls for squad access, and anything else these ‘boom’ nuts can think of.

Tank Fether
: Carries a shoulder fired rocket launcher. One man carries the weapon; another carries the rockets themselves. (Six to a bag) Can take out armored units, gun emplacements, just point, brace and fire.

Grenadier : Carries a Grenade launcher, with enough drum cases for eighteen shots. Standard ammunition is perfect for taking out light cover, and infantry. Can also carry one drum case (Each drum holds six grenade shots) of special ammunition. List of select special ammunition will be chosen on in bound to mission site.

Scout : Stealth masters, they can get almost anywhere unseen. Perfect for scouting out hostile zones ahead of the rest of the platoon, or for taking out sentries silently. This can also be awarded and earned by a whole squad.

Veteran : Though this trooper shows no specific skills, they are as hard as nails. The sort of trooper who gets the job done, comes out bleeding from a dozen wounds, carrying his buddy on his back, as he guns down the last pack of cultists. These are the troopers that the young members of the regiment aspire to be. This speciality, can be held with another, and can also be award to a squad as a whole.

Close Combat Fighter : A Lasgun is good and all, but there's nothing like holding a blade in your hands and driving it into your enemies chest. You can replace the standard Guard battle knife with a hand weapon. (Specify) As you progress in this class you will become a far better master of this way of fighting, with access to better weapons. (Such as Chainswords and Powerswords) This can be taken by the whole squad

Medic : One member of your squad has received some basic training from one of the Doctors of the regiment. You have now been allowed to carry a basic med pack, with enough morphine, bandages, and other medicines, to patch up basic wounds in your squad

There are 4 levels to all of these. At the highest level some skill linked to the speciality is applied to the rest of the squad, if it isn't a squad speciality already. For example, if there is a 4th lvl sniper in squad, all squad mates have general better accuracy.

Further options for specialization will become available as the squad progresses.

Squad Sheet

Sergeants name: (Obvious)

Physical description: (What they look like, any scars etc)

Sergeant/Squad Background
: (Mention what campaigns or notable missions they have been in. How they achieved their rank. Nothing to amazing though, they’re only a squad sergeant. IS your squad known for anything in particular, od they have a nickname etc)

Squad Members name: (Obvious again)

Anything of note: (Is there anything special or weird about the Guardsmen? Do they get a nervous tick; do they really hate a certain enemy? Do people see them as a cool hard killer? Be creative, but also note some members are just going to be regular troopers.)

Specialization/Speciality Medal
: (If this squad member has a specialization, then say what it is. Also might want a give a bit of a background, as to why they specialize in what they do, why they chose it, what they have done whilst being it.)

((All choices from Squad Members name and Anything of note, must be repeated till all members of the squad have been accounted for. Remember minimum four troopers’ maximum eight)

History of the Regiment

The Storm Hounds (The Temtramun 9th Infantry) Are from the planet, Temtramun Gamma, a world rich in mineral resources, and one of the rare examples of a world with breathable atmosphere. Mountains and deep vales lay over all the land, with dark seas, breaking up the three main continents of the planet. The world and its system (The Temtranos System) are in deep Imperial Space, far from the border worlds that see constant war. It has though ten regiments, from armored companies to infantry, which fight all over the Empire of Man, for the Glory of the Emperor, and the pride of their homeworld. It is a prosperous mining, and industrial planet, thick forests grow in the vales, and the mountain water run down to power vast generators, that give the cities of this world power.

The Storm Hounds last saw their home twenty (Terra Standard) years ago, and many of the original men and women of the regiment have died in combat to be replaced by fresh recruits, shipped to them from their homeworld Temtramun. The regiment itself has been in existence for 236 years, being one of the newest regiments sent from Temtramun. It has faced many of the Emperors foes, and has been involved in the capture of 23 enemy held worlds, the defence of 37 Imperial worlds, and a few missions that dont even exist on Imperium record. They have earned much renown already, and are a respected part of the Temtramun forces. They rarely have the chance to fight with the other regiments of their home world, for they are scattered far over the Imperium.

The name Storm Hound was coined after the defence of Signus Alpha, from a Tau incursion. The Storm Hounds along with five other regiments held out for a year against the Tau push, and even as they were forced from the final city, they still fought on, going to the storm wreathed mountains of the world. They fought a guerilla war against the Tau occupiers, until a relief force final drove the Tau menace from the world. They were hounds of war, and the storm of the mountains had hidden them from Tau scanning, the name Storm Hounds, was coined, by the general of the relief force, after speaking to the Colonel of the Temtramun 9th. This was 150 years ago now, but they Storm Hounds still bare the name proudly on their badges, and pins.

The current Colonel of the regiment is a John Samson. He earned the rank, after his assault, on the Chao city of New Genra, during the Genra conflict. He lost his left hand in the conflict, but all agreed the rank was well deserved. He has been the Colonel has served well for twenty years now, leading the Hounds to glory. Below him and his staff of Commisars, bodyguard and the like are the ten Lieutenants of the regiment, and below them the squad Sergeants. (That’s you) Lieutenant Naso ‘Bull’ Jaron, is your Lieutenant, has been for twelve years now. You are his Squad sergeants, only recently having gained the rank, only leading your men through a handful of conflicts, and the Guardsmen themselves have only seen the same amount of conflicts themselves. They’re still considered ‘green’, though they have seen some conflict, but the next mission should change that.

Sergeants name: Brenner “The Sarge” Saul

Psychical Description:
Sergeant Brenner is a broad, powerful man, but surprisingly compact. He has an uncanny sense of balance, and moves with casual smoothness. Extremely fast when he explodes into motion. Has a smattering of scars all over his person, including a scar across his cheek that turns one side of his lip into a permanent grinning snarl, and a scar the size of a small pumpkin across his right thigh where a large chunk was blasted off while he rescued a downed soldier. He keeps his hair in a grey buzzcut that could be used as a half-inch ruler. He has piercing blue eyes with flecks of gray. Usually seen sporting a grizzled beard scruff in the field.

Sergeant/Squad background:
Sergeant Brenner served as a soldier for almost 7 years, and was being considered for Sergeant when his squad was wiped out by a Tau ambush. There was a fresh squad or recruits who's sergeant had died in the same battle, so to cut down on paperwork he was integrated in as their sergeant. For the next year, the squad took all sorts of nasty, thankless jobs, such as assaulting small dug in positions, earning them a reputation for a “Up-the-middle” gung-ho combat docrine. This has earned them two nicknames. To the fresh recruits who see their selfless bravery and unflinching will, they're “Brenners Devil Dogs”. To the experienced veterans who see their suicidal idiocy and stubborn stupidity, they're “The Jarheads”.

Trooper Sam “Lizz” Delahue:
Just another trooper.

Trooper Don “Brooklyn” Alkeson:
Known as solid, dependable, and rugged. Respected for his willpower and high pain tolerance.

Trooper Smith “Crazyhorse” Cooper:
Completely devoted to the sergeant and absolutely nuts. Always the first to volunteer for dangerous duties. Uncannily lucky.

Specialist (Tank Fether) Trooper Bragg “Two-shot”Junior:
The first thing one notices about trooper Bragg is he is BIG. Standing at slightly under two meters tall (around 6'4”), and weighing almost 114 kilos (252 pounds) of mostly muscle, he's an imposing figure. Heavy weapons expert. Carries the squad Tank Fether. Worked as a blast surveyor in the mines, so is generally able to find structural weak points, etc.

Specialist (Tank Fether Shells) Trooper Alvin “Duffel bag” Carlson:
Carries the shells for Specialist Trooper Bragg.

Trooper Gavin “White Rice” Jackson:
As plain and boring as his nickname.

Trooper Cardinal “Snake-eater” Samuel:
One man amongst billions.

Look solid? Thanks for any input (and the chance to try this game out)!

Squad looks very good, nothing to fancy, but enough meat in it for some good character development, and general role play. Good job, just need a few others to get some squads up then we can begin. Are there any questions you have?

Squad Sheet

Sergeant

-Name: Darrel Cannis (AKA the sheriff)

-Background: Cannis spent most of his young adult life in the Temtramun PDF Military Police which he was appointed to at 18 having joined the defence force on his 16th birthday. Cannis rose to the rank of sergeant early though he showed a greater respect for the spirit than the letter off the law.

Ten years ago after a fiasco involving a ladder, stockings and a Major's wife Cannis put in for a transfer into the Storm Hounds, was accepted and shipped out. He found himself a private again, which irked him a great deal, and as the commissariat were far more stringent about their selections to the MP than the recruiting sergeant was to the rest of the regiment he was put in a frontline battalion.

Working his way up to Corporal through solid hard work and a knack for keeping the lads out of serious trouble Cannis finally achieved the rank of sergeant for a second time through the time honoured medium of dead men's boots when the old serge had his head bitten off by a particularly nasty native predator.

Cannis is a veteran of the Northern Temtramun turbine riots (one of the less well managed of recent years if truth be told), as well as several small scale quasi commando missions behind enemy lines in addition to the usual frontline campaigns that the regiment has ploughed through in the last ten years.

Physical appearance -Physically the Sheriff is of about average height (5,8") and fairly solid. Not quite handsome he has a rakish appeal that sometimes gets him discount rates at the whore houses with hair a little longer than regulations might dictate. Though he has scars aplenty none are especially prominent. Cannis also affects a great coat by preference, as long as whether allows.

Squad nickname - The Law men

Squadies

-Name: Corporal Henry Farnes

-Distinguishing features: The oldest man in the squad at thirty eight, has been with Cannis for longer than any other having served in the MP with him and followed him to the Storm Hounds. He also served in the Turbine riots in which the PDF were not supplied with ammunition due to an administrative error. This has made Farnes perhaps a bit too fond of the cold steel.

-Name: Private Harris

-Distinguishing features: By far the youngest squadie at just 18 Harris was actually born into the regiment with both his mother and father being soldiers. Usually a cocksure brat Harris is liable to forget he's not in school any more from time to time.

-Name: Private Elizabeth Macaine (AKA Bess)

Distinguishing features: She's a woman, and a pretty one (not Harris' mum). 24 years old.

-Name: Private (Jericho) Jones
-Speciality: Demolition
-Distinguishing features: Big, black and with both a penchant and a knack for blowing things up Jericho earned his sobriquet taking down a section of the walls of New New London in the Aelsbreth campaign allowing several companies into the city.

Name: Private Winsor
Distinguishing features: A drunk, but reliable enough (mostly)

Name: Private Matiel
Distinguishing features: The educated man of the squad, he has read more books than you’ve ever seen (or so he claims).

Name: Private Skrag
Distinguishing features: Skrag could charitably be described as having a characterful face; or (more accurately) as a repellent ghoulish spectre. He is perfectly nice once you get to know him though.

Sergeants Name: Jason 'Kinslayer' Frost

Description:

Sergeant Frost, sometimes referred to only by those in his squad as Kinslayer, is a slender and youthful leader. His sharp wit, strong arm and ability to adapt almost instantly to new situations were the foundations for his quick ascent in rank. Hitting sergeant on his twenty first birthday, Frost was recently put in command of his peers. He has known them since his inception to the Temtramun 9th Infantry when aged sixteen. His short black hair and piercing green eyes give him a grim appearance on the battlefield. His nickname comes from an event in his squads history that none of the gang will speak about to any other, regardless of rank. Frosts' senior officers ignore the nickname and the implications it possibly implies about him, trusting him as a good leader and aware of the clear bond of brotherhood between him and those in his squad.

Background:

Frost was inducted into the regiment from his homeworld, Temtramun Gamma, alongside hundreds of other hopefuls five years ago. Of those fortunate enough to pass and survive military training, a handful were sent on a mission to a nearby system almost as soon as they earned their guns. During this mission Frost and hundreds of others fought off and defeated a planetary assault from the Tau, an alien foe that has plagued the Storm Hounds for centuries. During the defence of the planet, Frost and eleven others were seperated from their units and formed their own squad. Together they infiltrated three Tau command towers and knocked out the xenos communication. This aided in the army relief force being able to land, and consequently repel the Tau attack. Only five of the eleven returned to Temtramun Gamma alive, Frost amongst their number.

These brave warriors were awarded special status for their efforts, and allowed to remain together and form a new squad under the command of their old drill seargant. For four years they trained and fought together as any other regiment of the Temtramun 9th would do, excelling in all fields of warcraft, fitness and survival. During those four years the squad saw little in the way of outer planetary battle, only aiding in the occassional defence of their homeworld or travelling to nearby planets for red zone training. They did get the chance to fight the Tau once more quite recently however, travelling to the nearby Temtramun Delta to repel another planetary strike. During this time the squads sergeant, a man none of them were fond of due to his strict military approach to squad life, was killed. Upon their return Frost was promoted to Sergeant, a decision his squad approved of.

Because of their use of animal nicknames for each other, the squad has generally become known as 'Wild Storm'.

Trooper Bear:

Built like a tank, not too bright, but loyal to an end. This shaven headed guardsman likes to get up close and personal with the foe, and as such has been trying desperately to win himself the title of close combat specialist. A well aged warrior of thirty seven, he is the oldest and most grizzled warrior in the squad. A large pink scar runs through his now blind left eye, where a Tau plasma sword almost cut his head in two four years ago. The squad joke about this, saying the hit knocked a little sense into their brutish pal. He looks out for those more youthful members of the squad when not on duty, the bond of brotherhood built between them over their five years together near impossible to rattle. He doesn't mind taking orders from a 'youngblood' because he knows openly that he is more about the brawn than the brains.

Specialist Sniper Hawk:

Slim yet tough, the squads sniper has a deadly accurate shot and was awarded scout sniper after just 2 years service. His betters noticed his gift almost as soon as he was inducted, when he shot an annoying sergeants shoulder rank badge off from across a training course after he called Hawk too thin to hold a big gun. The sergeant was just calling to have him shot dead for his misdeed, but a senior officer had seen the shot and offered him a place training for sniper. Two years later, around the same time Frost was inducted into the regiment, he was sent out to defend Temtramun Delta from the Tau attack and met his squad mates. He was the one that shot down the three Tau officers controlling each command tower, during the battle where the squad helped repel the Tau assault on their homeworld.

Trooper Snake:

Named for the serpentine tattoo on his hand, this gunman loves to fire until the clip runs dry. Luckily for him his aim isn't too bad either. He was inducted at the same time as Frost but is several years older, and although he can hardly be considered unintelligent he is not quite sergeant material. He is good with maps and traps however, and does come out with the rare gem of a brilliant idea every once in a while. Frost and the other lads wouldn't leave home without him, trusting their trigger happy comrade not to accidently shoot them in the back. He has no real aims or ambitions to rise through the ranks, he simply likes shooting things and plotting maps. The fact he is good with codes and co-ordinates helps the squad interpret and follow out orders faster than many other squads can.

Trooper Fox:

Cunning and sly, this guardsman has an average build and icey blonde hair. His green eyes are much alike Sergeant Frosts' and some mistake them for blood brothers. In truth, they are distant cousins with the same family name. He prides himself on striking quickly and without mercy, be it with gun, knife, fist or anything else that comes to mind. Despite not having advanced past the rank of private, he is certainly one of the more stealthy soldiers in the regiment. He has been pushing himself towards a scouting role, and Frost has already filed a request to have him earn a special in scouting. The request was denied however, his officers stating he needed to up his kill tally and prove himself further before he could achieve it. Perhaps it is because of this that Fox is always reluctant to back down, no matter the odds stacked against him.

Ah well the 'Tank-Fether' requires one man to carry the rocket launcher and another to carry the rounds. Technically it is two man, but I only count the one wielding the weapon as a specialist, after all you don't need any special training to carry around a bag of rockets.

One is just carrying the ammo for the tank fether, not technically a specialist but it's easier to see that way (is I assume Feline's reasoning)

EDIT: Redundant given our glorious leaders post seconds before my own.

Thanks for giving this a try guys, its all still in the works so some editing and tweaking might be required to get it perfect, hope your willing to work with me, and make this something great, and lets have some fun doing it.

I'm interested, but don't think I could give it the attention I would like to at the moment. Still I intend to follow the RP when I can as it seems like a really interesting idea.

Akimoto: If I need more people, of course I will ask you.

Drainial: To answer your question in the other thread, battle knifes can be attached to Lasguns to be used as bayonets.

Quick Question while I write this up, as I don't want to repeat up on Sniper (I'm looking at you Kinslayer), if I were to take the Close Combat Fighters skill, can I start with it on the whole squad? just to clarify.

Okay here it is finally... let me know what you think Dauricha

Squad Sheet

Name: Sergeant Matthias Schofield

Call Sign: Scarecrow

Physical Description - Scarecrow is a bit shorter than the average man from Temtramun Gamma and has a compact build. He was dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. He keeps himself clean-shaven and his hair neat with a military hair cut. He is also very quiet in his nature and could also be considered a bit socially awkward. While this may not be as apparent around other troops, his neat nature becomes especially obvious around the other members of his squad. Scarecrow is 28 years old. He is left handed and has scars down the right side of his body caused by a rogue frag grenade during a failed assault. While there was no significant damage to his body he was scarred by the larger shards of metal.

Background - Back on Temtramun Gamma he was miner, working in one of the deep mines. It wasn’t until a cave in caused by an accidental explosion that he sought a change in occupation after he was trapped with no light, smoky air and with no way out. Once he was rescued he quit his job and joined the Imperial Guard, hoping to escape his new fear. From there he slowly worked his way through trianing as he devoted himself to the task. Originally he had no plans of being more than the average trooper though his superiors saw some hope in his ability to inspire and lead after he quickly returned to the ranks with the same resolve following the grenade incident. He obtained the call sign of Scarecrow during his training due to his foreboding silent nature which reminded the others of the scarecows used back on Temtramun Gamma to scare away rogue pests and qhat some described as a near creepy appearance.

Squad Background

The men of Scarecrows squad are known for favouring close combat as opposed to the indoctrinate use of the Mk IV Lasgun. Not only this but they push Regimental uniform guidelines by wearing their uniform with a rough abandon, each man having more interest in keeping his weapon operational than his boots shiny. Each member of the quad has a tribal-esque scarecrow tattoo on the left arm. The squad itself goes by the name of ‘Scarecrow’s Shadows’. The name was gifted to them following an assault on the forest moon of Thraxxis Delta against a rebel planetary force, where they played part in the close quarter fighting in the dense woods of the Thur’amine Plateau.

Tasked with defending one of the key paths through the plateau the squad ambushed a forward patrol, catching the initial few in hidden snare traps before revealing themselves and rushing in with their standard issue combat knives. Both sides took casualties with Scarecrow’s own squad losing four of its members however the cost was worth it as they captured one of their enemy for interrogation by regimental command’s agents. As tales of the attack grew in grandeur and length as it was told through the mess, the name of Scarecrow’s Shadows stuck itself to the story and before long it stuck to the squad.

Squad Members

Trooper Logan Gerrigan
Call Sign: Trickster

The practical joker of the squad, Logan has garnered himself a bad reputation for playing the wrong sort of jokes on the wrong people during personal leave or when he’s off duty. He has poorly kept, blonde hair and is about average height. It’s only during battle that he leaves his joker attitude behind and demonstrates a vague level of seriousness. Logan is 23 years old.

Trooper Garth Thomas
Call Sign: Thanatos

One of the older members of the group Thanatos is reckoned to be about somewhere in his mid to late thirties. As to date the only ones that know his real age are the sergeant and the superiors and have read his file. Thantos has a gaunt look to his face, with dark brown hair and green eyes, their colour faded by his time on the battlefield. Despite being older than the other troopers he still holds his own on and off the field of battle and acts as the occasional mentor, appearing to offer advice, favouring the technique of appearing behind the others and catching them off guard. He also bares a scar on the right side of his face from an orkish blade.

Trooper Ronan Keith
Call Sign: Druid

Druid is the more bookish member of the group. Studious in his nature he tends to study the maps and plans of the battle beforehand. Back on Temtramun Gamma he was educated by his parents as they expected him to go off world and continue his education however much to their disdain he enlisted with a number of his friends. Other members of the squad tend to make jokes about him reading in his free time.

Trooper Drust Richards
Call Sign: Fenrir

Fenrir is cold and harsh. He doesn’t speak much, he doesn’t care for much and is the most reluctant to take orders from the sergeant. This is does not mean the he thinks any less of the sergeant it’s just that he has an issue with taking orders, trusting himself more in battle and his own instincts over the orders of his superiors. It’s for this reason that he was flogged for disobedience following their last battle receiving 10 lashes in the parade ground and was lucky that he received as ‘soft’ punishment.

Combat Specialist Josef Izscepi
Call Sign: Templar

Specialist Close Combat Weapon: Modified Hatchet (I figure this is about the level of improvement I can take for a weapon... if it’s too much or if I could say get a slightly better weapon let me know)

Josef is a deeply religious in his faith towards the Emperor, offering words of prayer throughout battle as he hacks with his modified hatchet. Favouring the weapon over their standard battle knife, the hilt has been reinforced with steel inlays over the oak shaft. It is reckoned that Templar was destined towards a life in the mines until he heard the preaching’s of a visiting priest from the Ordo Hereticus. Recognising it as the Emperor’s call for service he enlisted that day and trained himself with a zealot like devotion. Templar is tall, well built and bares a strong hatred towards those who have renounced their faith for the Emperor, viewing these traitors as the lowest of all scum.

Does my sniper have a sniper rifle, las pistol & combat knife, and the others a lasgun and combat knife? Does the sniper have some sort of cloak on his armour? Just checking.

First post is up.

Starting Equipment
Each non specialization member of the squad carries an Mrk 4 Lasgun, standard guard kit, with standard energy clips, enough for most missions. (If you’re running low you will be notified. Nothing like facing down a charging Waaagh with only two clips left.) They wear standard Guard uniform (thick fabric uniform, with some leather armor padding, basic guard issue helmet. The colour is a mix of dark forest colour green, and black), but their armor will be improved and upgraded, as they advance into stronger missions.

So just replace your Mrk 4 Lasgun for a Long Las Guard standard sniper rifle. You have no extra equipment. Cloaks are Storm Hound standard uniform, but like armor you may gain access to them later.
